Celebrating the Life of Carla Robertson

Today we had the privilege of honoring Carla Robertson with a beautiful celebration of life service.

Family and friends gathered to share memories, laughter, and tears as they remembered Carla. Her granddaughter Tiffany, son Jackie, and daughter Betty each spoke, painting a picture of a woman whose love and strength touched so many lives. Their words reflected the deep bonds she created and the lasting mark she leaves on her family.

The love and support shown by all who attended was a true testament to the legacy Carla leaves behind. It was clear from the stories shared and the full chapel that Carla’s life was one of connection, loyalty, and heart.

Our staff at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home was honored to serve the Robertson family and to be part of such a beautiful service. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who came to celebrate Carla’s life.

Our thoughts remain with the Robertson family during this difficult time.

Carla Ruth Robertson, age 76, of Du Quoin, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, May 25, 2026, with her dear family by her side.

She was born Tuesday, March 7, 1950 in Du Quoin, a daughter of Elmer and Betty Lou (Manis) Biggs, and raised by her dear grandmother- Elsie Manis. She married Jack Taylor, Sr. on March 14, 1966. From this union came two precious children. She later married John Robertson in 1982. He preceded her in death.

Carla, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, open doors, and open arms. For years Carla worked as an upholsterer, bringing worn things back to life with skilled hands and a hard worker’s pride. She carried that same dedication into her role as a single mother her entire life. She faced every challenge head-on and never stopped putting family first.

Her home was a haven. If you needed help — whether you walked on two legs or four — Carla was there. An animal lover through and through, she shared her rocking chair with her dog, opened her heart to strays, and even cared for raccoons at one point. Her love was big, protective, and tough when it had to be.

Carla loved life loud. She was strong-willed and always had an opinion. But behind that strong personality was a woman who lived to give. She was a natural gifter with a gift for bargain hunting. Yard sales, thrifting, and "Mark Down Tuesdays" at Cato’s were her happy places, and she took pride in being a particular dresser with a sharp eye.

Saturdays meant family game night, and no one made sure family gathered quite like Carla did. She loved road trips with no destination, piling the kids in the car just to see where the day would take them. She loved travel, new places, and new adventures, always with laughter leading the way.

Carla was loving but strict, tough but tender, and protective of her people to the end. She made sure everyone felt welcome, fed, and cared for. Her traits — that grit, generosity, and big laugh — live on in the rest of the family, leaving a great legacy of love and strength for generations to come.

She is survived by two children- Betty (Charles) See of Du Quoin and Jackie Lee Taylor, Jr. of Du Quoin; one granddaughter- Tiffany See of Du Quoin; great granddaughter- Madison Soto and fiance Jonah Provart of Du Quoin; great granddaughter- Taylor Soto of Du Quoin; brother- Danny Joe Reese of Bowling Green, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members she cherished; father of her children-Jack Taylor, Sr. of Du Quoin; and her beloved dog, Pepper, and sugar glider, Sugar.

She is preceded in death by parents, husband- John Robertson, grandmother- Elsie Manis, two infant children- Christopher Conner and Johnny Lee Robertson, brother- Edward Wright.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Saturday, May 30, 2026, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home, located at 11 S. Hickory Street in Du Quoin. Memorial services to celebrate Carla's life will follow at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home to assist the family with Carla's final expenses. Envelopes will be available at the service or donations may be made via the "donation" tab on Carla's obituary.
