From Dawg to Doctor! 🐶🥼

We were excited to welcome the University of Georgia‘s Inaugural Class of Medical Students today as an opportunity for hands on learning during their first week of classes!

Fairview Park Hospital is proud to have been included as a portion of this class’s orientation as a stop on their rural healthcare tour - what an opportunity!

90 students, professors, and leadership spent a few hours with us to meet our executive team, Physicians, and to tour the inside of our local, rural hospital. They got to learn about what drives the heartbeat of a regional referral hospital located in a small town, what’s special about practicing medicine in Small Town USA, and got to see firsthand what rural healthcare looks like.

We cherish these opportunities as we are always recruiting future providers, and allowing them to see the culture and warmth of being cared for in a rural community is a priceless experience!

Congratulations on your inaugural year, and congratulations to this amazing class of students as they begin a journey of helping others! ❤️

Taking care of our own during some of the most precious moments ❤️

We always say “care like family”, and we mean it!

Having a baby is one of the most precious moments a family experiences, and we were honored to have recently shared that experience with one of our own Women’s Services nurses, Taylor Mullis!

“Delivering with all of my work friends by my side was truly the biggest blessing of our lives! We were so anxious going into having our first baby but every single person from the doctors to the L&D, Nursery, and Postpartum nurses made us feel so cared for and loved. Our experience truly was better than anything we could have imagined or asked for. I can’t imagine having a baby anywhere other than Fairview!”
-Taylor Mullis, L&D Nurse

Sometimes stepping out of the clinical world and being the patient can be a tough roll as you work to shift from nurse to patient, but what an honor to get to serve your colleague in such a special way 🫶🏻

Congratulations, Taylor! And welcome to the world, sweet Miller! We’re glad you’re here ❤️

“Everybody wants to have fun on the 4th of July, and most people are getting outdoors. We just want them to have fun safely so they don’t have to come see us here in the ER.”

🌡️ EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY! 🌡️

COACHES, ATHLETES, OUTDOOR WORKERS:

Dublin is currently under a heat advisory with a real feel high of 109°-110°!

These temperatures make it extremely dangerous to be exerting energy and working outside without frequent breaks and constant hydration.

HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT:
🌡️ If exercising or working outside, it is recommended to take 10-15 minute breaks in the shade every 20-30 minutes
🌡️ It is recommended to keep exercise short and very light in these temperatures due to dehydration and heat exposure
🌡️ If exercising or working outside, aim to drink 16-32 ounces of water every hour
🌡️ If you are sweating regularly, swap every other drink for an electrolyte-rich drink (sports drink or water with enhanced electrolytes)

WHEN TO HEAD TO THE ER:
🤒 Signs of Heat Exhaustion: Cool, pale, or clammy skin, fast and weak pulse, dizziness, muscle cramps with fatigue and weakness, nausea, headache, or vomiting
🤒 Signs of Heat Stroke: Core body temp over 104°, hot and red with dry or just damp skin, rapid and strong pulse, confusion or dizziness, loss of consciousness or seizures

To our local athletes, coaches, construction workers, city sanitation and water workers, and all other vital outdoor professionals - we see you and we care about your well being!

🏈 Coaches, please refer to state regulations for monitoring wet bulb temps
🚛 Sanitation and construction workers, please find shade consistently and hydrate appropriately
🪴Landscapers, please take frequent breaks and keep water close by

We care for your well being and want you to be safe while outdoors!

Community comes first! ❤️

Fairview Park Hospital leadership and staff from Case Management and Inpatient Rehab recently attended local assisted living home, Addington Place’s, annual gala where they were proud to accept an award on behalf of the hospital!

Fairview was awarded the Community Builder Award for the work our staff does each day to ensure that patients are cared for in a timely manner, receiving care and discharging home appropriately - a vital part of each patient’s recovery.

We are honored to have received this award and to be recognized for safe, compassionate care within these walls.

We know our staff does amazing things each day, but having them recognized for their hard work is just confirmation that those in the community notice the work they do also.

Thank you to our staff for the way you take care of each person who comes through our doors. We could not do any of this without you!

Fairview Park Hospital and HCA Healthcare are pleased to partner with Girl Scouts on a corporate level in an effort to support young girls in their development mentally, physically, and in their leadership skills!

Today, Fairview employees joined Dublin’s local Girl Scout troop for their last day of camp to lead them in mental wellness training and coping strategies, leading them to earn their Mental Wellness badge!

We talked about:
🧠 What mental wellness is
🧠 How we can support our own mental wellness
🧠 How to respond to those who are unkind
🧠 How to control our emotions
🧠 When to ask for help

The girls of our community are capable, strong, kind, and so talented - and they deserve to know it!
