Last week our providers attended the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society of Georgia (AAISG) meeting. As the current President and a board member for nine years, Dr. Johnson is proud to be part of an organization made up of dedicated allergists and immunologists who are committed to advancing the field. He is increasingly involved in that roll to create quality continuing education for allergists and to promote advocacy for Georgia Medicaid patients to have proper access to allergic, asthma, and immunological insurance coverage.

AAISG focuses on improving education, research, and patient care so we can better serve our patients and community when it comes to allergies, asthma, and immunologic conditions.

We’re always striving to stay at the forefront of care—and opportunities like this help us continue bringing the best back to you right here at home. 💙

Breathe easier. Live better. Today we recognize World Asthma Day and the importance of proper diagnosis, treatment, and support.

Did you know?
• asthma affects more than 25 million people in the US alone
• it’s one of the leading causes of missed school/work days
• with the right care plan, most people with asthma can live fully active, healthy lives

If breathing has been a struggle, let’s change that together 💙

Happy May 1st 💙 May is National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month, a time dedicated by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America to increase understanding and support for those affected.

Asthma and allergies are closely connected, especially in children. In fact, up to 80% of children with asthma have allergic triggers, such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold. Recognizing and managing these triggers is an important step in controlling symptoms and improving quality of life.

Asthma is a chronic condition that affects the airways, causing inflammation and narrowing, while allergies occur when the immune system reacts to substances that are typically harmless. Together, they can significantly impact daily activities if not properly managed.

As Dr. Johnson reminds our patients, awareness and early intervention make a difference.

Live well. Breathe better. We’re here to help!

👋 Meet the Team: Jeremi Hightower, PA-C

We’re rounding out our Meet the Team series with the last of our providers, and today we’re excited to introduce Jeremi Hightower, one of our wonderful Physician Assistants at Middle Georgia Allergy & Asthma! 💙

Jeremi joined our team in the fall of 2019 and is a Dublin, Georgia native. She is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia and went on to earn her Master of Physician Assistant degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2014. She also has experience in pediatric primary care and aesthetics.

Jeremi especially enjoys caring for our pediatric patients. She is passionate about educating pediatric families on asthma conditions so they feel confident and informed. Her compassionate approach and love for working with children make her a favorite among many of our families.

Outside of the office, Jeremi enjoys exercising, being outdoors with her four children, and cheering on the Dawgs.

We’re so grateful to have Jeremi caring for patients in our community!
