Today is World Urticaria Day!
What is Urticaria
Urticaria (also known as hives) is a disease characterised by the sudden development of itchy raised bumps (wheals or hives) on the skin. These bumps can vary in colour depending on a personโs skin tone and may appear red, pink, skin-coloured, or darker than the surrounding skin. Wheals often have a fleeting nature, with the skin returning to its normal appearance in around 24 hours. These wheals may appear in certain parts of the body, or they may be generalized. Hives are often accompanied by swelling known as angioedema.
