3 Things You May Not Know About Body Lifts

1️⃣ They're not just for weight loss patients.
While body lifts are commonly performed after significant weight loss, they can also help patients who have loose, excess skin due to aging, genetics, or pregnancy.

2️⃣ A body lift is about contouring, not losing weight.
The goal is to remove excess skin and improve body shape, helping create smoother, more balanced contours that better reflect your hard work.

3️⃣ It's often a confidence-restoring procedure.
Many patients tell me they feel healthier and stronger after losing weight but are frustrated by loose skin that doesn't improve with diet or exercise. A body lift can help align the way you look with the progress you've already achieved.

If you've ever wondered whether a body lift might be right for you, a consultation is the best place to start. Every patient's goals—and treatment plan—are unique.

Does liposuction help with weight loss?

This is one of the most common questions I hear, and the answer is: not really.

Liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a weight loss procedure. Its purpose is to remove stubborn pockets of fat that may not respond to diet and exercise, helping create a more balanced, sculpted appearance.

The best candidates for liposuction are typically already near their goal weight but have areas they'd like to refine, such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, or under the chin.

Think of liposuction as a way to improve shape and contour—not as a substitute for healthy lifestyle habits or significant weight loss. When used appropriately, it can be an excellent tool for enhancing your natural proportions and helping you feel more confident in your results.

Stay tuned as I answer more frequently asked questions about liposuction and body contouring.

Many men are surprised to learn that enlarged breast tissue isn't always caused by excess weight. Gynecomastia is a common condition that occurs when glandular breast tissue develops in the chest, often due to hormonal changes, genetics, medications, or other factors.

For many patients, gynecomastia can affect confidence and make it difficult to feel comfortable in fitted clothing, at the gym, or at the pool. While diet and exercise can help reduce excess fat, they typically won't eliminate true glandular tissue.

In the coming weeks, I'll be sharing more information about gynecomastia, how it's diagnosed, and the treatment options available. If you've been struggling with a fuller chest despite your best efforts, know that you're not alone—and there are solutions that can help.

Tummy tuck or lipo? Do you need both? As a surgeon, my answer is: it depends. Every patient is unique, but combining an abdominoplasty with liposuction often gives us the most sculpted, contoured result. One tightens, the other refines. Together? 🔥

Not all before & afters are created equal.

There's a big difference between a photo taken on the operating table and one taken after a patient is fully healed. Swelling, positioning, lighting, timing — it all affects what you're seeing. As a surgeon, I always want my patients to have the full picture, not just a snapshot of the process.

When you're researching a procedure, ask yourself: are these results healed results? That question alone can change everything.

Book a consultation and let's talk about what's truly possible for you.

Implant placement is one of the most important decisions in your breast augmentation — and it's one we make together.

Above the muscle (subglandular) sits the implant between the breast tissue and the chest muscle. It typically means a shorter recovery and can work beautifully for patients with adequate natural breast tissue.

Below the muscle (submuscular) places the implant partially beneath the pectoral muscle. It tends to give a softer, more natural transition at the upper pole and is often preferred for patients with less natural tissue coverage.

Neither is universally better. The right choice depends on your anatomy, your lifestyle, your implant size, and the look you're hoping to achieve.

This is exactly the kind of conversation we have in every consultation — because the details are what make the difference.

The belly button incision for breast augmentation — have you heard of it?

It exists. It's called the TUBA (transumbilical breast augmentation). And it's rarely recommended — including in my practice.

Here's why: it only works with saline implants, and more importantly, it significantly limits surgical visibility and control. When I'm placing an implant, precision matters enormously. That's not where I'm willing to compromise.

My personal ranking of incision options:
🥇 Inframammary fold — best visualization, most control, heals beautifully
🥈 Periareolar — situationally useful, especially when combined with a lift
🥉 Transaxillary — no scar on the breast, excellent option for the right anatomy

Every incision has its place. The TUBA just isn't one I reach for.

Not all fillers are created equal — and the right one depends entirely on what we're treating.
Here's how I think about it:

Nasolabial folds & marionette lines — These deeper creases respond beautifully to Juvederm Voluma or Vollure, which add structured volume right where the face has started to fold.

Lips — Juvederm Volbella or Ultra XC gives a soft, natural result whether we're adding subtle definition or restoring lost volume.

Cheeks & midface volume loss — This is where Sculptra shines. Unlike traditional fillers, Sculptra works gradually by stimulating your own collagen production, rebuilding the foundational volume that gives the face its lift.

Temples & jawline — Sculptra is again my go-to here for patients who want a longer-lasting, natural correction rather than a quick fix.

Under eyes — Juvederm Volbella placed carefully in the tear trough softens that hollowed, tired appearance without overcorrecting.

The goal is never to fill — it's to restore. A refreshed result that still looks like you.

Not every patient wants an incision near the breast — and that's a completely valid preference.
The transaxillary approach places the incision in the natural fold of the armpit, keeping the breast itself completely unmarked. For the right candidate, it's a beautiful option that allows for implant placement with no scarring on or near the breast tissue.

It does require a different surgical technique and isn't the right fit for every anatomy or implant type — which is exactly why a thorough consultation matters.

The best incision isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. It's the one that makes the most sense for you."
