SEPTEMBER IS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH đď¸
Childhood cancer is rare, but knowing the warning signs can help parents recognize when something needs a closer look.
đŠ Signs that deserve medical attention include:
⢠Unexplained or persistent fever
⢠Unusual bruising or bleeding
⢠Pale skin or persistent fatigue
⢠Unexplained weight loss or decreased appetite
⢠Persistent headaches, especially with vomiting
⢠Changes in vision or unusual eye appearance
⢠A lump, swelling, or enlarged lymph node that doesnât go away
⢠Persistent bone or joint pain
⢠Abdominal swelling or a persistent mass
⢠Frequent or recurring infections
⢠Changes in walking, balance, or coordination
đ One symptom does NOT mean your child has cancer. Many of these symptoms are caused by much more common childhood illnesses. The important thing is to pay attention when symptoms are persistent, unusual, worsening, or occurring together.
As parents, you know your child best. If something doesnât seem right, donât be afraid to have it checked.
đ Early recognition matters.
