Many people think PTSD is simply "reliving a bad memory."

It is not.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It may affect sleep, concentration, mood, relationships, daily functioning, and a person's sense of safety.

PTSD can be associated with:

• Intrusive memories or flashbacks
• Avoidance of reminders of the trauma
• Increased anxiety or hypervigilance
• Irritability or emotional numbness
• Sleep disturbances and nightmares

The good news is that PTSD is treatable.

Research published in Psychological Medicine found strong evidence supporting trauma focused therapies for PTSD, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Therapy (CT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). These approaches consistently improve PTSD symptoms and quality of life.

A systematic review in BMC Psychiatry also found that early trauma focused cognitive behavioral interventions can reduce the likelihood of chronic PTSD and improve long term outcomes.

At Ease Psychiatry, we provide compassionate, evidence based care for PTSD and other mental health conditions through both in clinic and telehealth appointments.

You do not have to navigate trauma alone.

Some people with depression still go to work every day.
They answer messages.
They smile in conversations.
They meet deadlines.
And still feel completely mentally exhausted.

One of the most misunderstood things about depression is that many people expect it to "look obvious."
But research published in The Lancet Psychiatry and JAMA

Psychiatry shows depression affects much more than mood. It can impact:
🔋 Energy levels
🧠 Concentration
💡 Motivation
😴 Sleep
💭 Emotional regulation

For many people, depression feels like:
"Everything takes more effort than it used to."
Not everyone struggling looks visibly distressed.

Some people become quieter.
Some stay busy to avoid what they are feeling.
Some continue functioning while silently overwhelmed.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, awareness means looking beyond stereotypes.

Because recognizing the signs earlier can help people access support before things become heavier.

Mental health challenges are not always visible. And people should not have to "look unwell" before their struggles are taken seriously.
Support matters earlier than many people realize. 🤍

Many people delay getting mental health support because they believe they should “push through” or wait until things become severe.

But research consistently shows that early mental health care can improve long-term outcomes.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, early intervention can help reduce symptom severity, improve daily functioning, and lower the risk of symptoms becoming more difficult to manage over time.

Research published in The Lancet Psychiatry also found that early treatment and ongoing support are associated with better recovery outcomes and improved quality of life across multiple mental health conditions.

Mental health care is not only about responding to crisis.
It is also about support, prevention, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

At Ease Psychiatry, we provide compassionate care for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorders, psychosis, and more both in clinic and through telehealth.

You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable before seeking support.

What helps you feel safe and supported in healthcare spaces?

05/20/2026

Getting mental health support should not feel harder than it needs to be.

Telehealth makes it possible to connect with professional psychiatric care from the comfort and privacy of your own space — whether that is home, work, or wherever you feel most comfortable.

And research shows it works.

A large systematic review published in World Psychiatry found that telepsychiatry is comparable to in-person care for many mental health conditions, with high patient satisfaction and strong clinical outcomes.

Research published in Psychiatric Services also found that telehealth significantly improves access to mental health care, especially for individuals facing transportation, scheduling, or location barriers.

At Ease Psychiatry, we offer secure telehealth appointments for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorders, psychosis, and more.

Quality mental health care can now meet you where you are.

This year’s theme by Mental Health America is
“More Good Days, Together”

And it’s a reminder we all need:

Everyone has good days
Everyone has hard days
And we are all managing our mental health in some way

Did you know?
1 in 5 people experience a mental health condition each year
But 5 in 5 of us are caring for our mental wellbeing every day

A “good day” does not have to mean everything is perfect
Sometimes it means feeling calm
Sometimes it means getting through the day
Sometimes it means asking for help

This month, take a moment to reflect
What does a good day look like for you...

And how can we support each other to have more of them 💛

Many people think mental health care only happens in hospitals or during severe crises.

But a large part of mental health support happens through outpatient care where individuals receive professional help while continuing with their daily lives.

Research supports this approach.

A 2023 systematic review published in BMC Psychiatry found that outpatient and community-based interventions significantly reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and overall psychiatric distress, with strong effect sizes across multiple studies .

Another large study involving over 33,000 patients showed that even one outpatient visit was associated with reduced likelihood of emergency, inpatient, or residential psychiatric care shortly after .

Outpatient mental health care can include:
• therapy and counseling
• medication management
• ongoing psychiatric support
• telehealth sessions

It allows people to receive consistent care while maintaining their routines, responsibilities, and environment.

At Ease Psychiatry, we provide compassionate outpatient mental health care for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorders, psychosis, and more both in clinic and through telehealth.

If you have been considering getting support, you do not have to wait for things to become overwhelming.
