A recent experience reminded me just how strong the stereotypes around methadone clinics still are, and why we’re making the important update below.
I was speaking with Kisha, who manages a recovery program that had recently started using our services. While we were ironing out a few details, a counselor walked by on her way to grab coffee and her daily chocolate fix.
Kisha introduced us, so I gave the counselor a quick overview of who I am and what I do.
Her reaction was one that I honestly hear pretty often:
“Oh… so you’re not just a gas and go.”
She totally got it.
There’s a long-standing stereotype about methadone clinics, that care begins and ends at the dosing window.
But real recovery is so much more than that.
It requires coordination, communication, and consistency, but above all, it requires genuine care.
And at BD Health, that’s always been our approach.
➡️ Starting August 1st, BD Health will be known as
✨The Caring Clinics.✨
Because now it's not just our priority - it's our identity.
Not because we’re changing who we are, but because we’re making it clearer.
📍 Same locations
🛎️ Same services
🧑‍⚕️ Same incredible team
🔥 Same unwavering commitment
Only now, the 'caring' part is even louder. 🤍
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more about what that looks like for the clients and communities we serve.
Thank you for being part of this work with us.
