🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MARYLAND MEDICAID BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLIENTS 🚨

Please take a moment to read this important information.

Maryland Medicaid has implemented a new attestation process for clients who are changing behavioral health providers. As part of this process, you may be asked to sign a form ending services with your current provider before beginning treatment with a new one.

We have become aware of situations in which some clients discovered that their previous authorization had been closed earlier than they expected or without permission. When this happens, it can interrupt access to therapy, medication management, or other behavioral health services.

To help protect your care:
✅ Ask your current provider if your authorization is still active.
✅ Do not sign any attestation or other form unless you fully understand what it means and how it may affect your services.
✅ If you are changing providers, ask exactly when your current authorization will end and when your new authorization will begin.
✅ If your services are interrupted or denied unexpectedly, ask for an explanation immediately.

At Addiction Treatment of Maryland, our priority is making sure clients understand their rights and can make informed decisions about their behavioral health care.

United by the belief that many addiction treatment providers were not operating in the patient’s best interest, they wanted to provide quality care from genuine professionals who treat each person as an individual, not a statistic. Their plan was to create a warm, home-like environment where patients always feel valued and supported—simple, authentic, and far from perfect, but always real. To the founders, AToM is a humbling anchor, showcasing the remarkable individuals within it. We promise to uphold this spirit, always working tirelessly to serve our clients’ best interests."
