Please consider donating to Gus’s care. Gus arrived at the shelter in March of 2025. He was covered in ticks, had infections in both ears, both eyes and what they thought was entropion, an abnormality that makes the eyelid roll inward.
While in our care Gus was diagnosed with Macroblepharon, longer than normal eyelid length that results in inward rolling of the lower eyelid near the nose and then rolling out at the outer edge of the eye. Whether entropion or Macroblepharon both require surgery. He has scarring on the eye surface and possibly dry eye disease. Gus also was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a tick-borne illness that can cause serious health conditions and he also has several allergies.
His eyes have shown improvement with a special diet and prescription eye drops but to save his sight he will need surgery. The surgery has been delayed because of chronic yeast and bacterial skin, and ear infections. We worry he has lost his peripheral vision, but having the surgery while his skin was inflamed would slow the healing process and make it likely the surgery would need to be repeated.. Gus is now ready for surgery! We need your help to raise $6,000 for the surgery. The estimate is $5,100 to $5,900.
