The Berman Center

The Berman Center We are a spiritual-based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults, age 18 and older, who suffer This was the genesis of The Berman Center.

In 2013, a very talented, beautiful, and spirited young Jewish woman who suffered from addiction lost her life a few days before her 21st birthday. The mother of this young woman and Alyza Berman discussed at length how to prevent further losses by bringing together resources in our community to effectively address substance abuse. The dove in the logo originated from the beautiful artwork created

by the young Jewish woman who lost her life so early. We hope that it provides a lasting inspiration and legacy to address addiction. Alyza dedicates the Berman Center in her memory.

What PTSD actually looks like 👇

PTSD isn't just for veterans or survivors of catastrophic events. It's the body and mind's response to something overwhelming—and it can show up in ways that surprise you.

PTSD can look like:
💭 Feeling "numb" or disconnected
😴 Trouble sleeping or constant nightmares
⚡ Being easily startled or always "on edge"
🔁 Replaying the same memory over and over
🚪 Avoiding places, people, or conversations
💢 Sudden anger, irritability, or shame

It can come from a single event—or years of cumulative stress.

If any of this feels familiar, please know: what you're experiencing has a name, and it has a treatment path.

June is PTSD Awareness Month. You're not broken—you're carrying something heavy, and our team would love to help you put it down.

Meet IGNITE—our outpatient treatment program designed for teens 14-18 years old ✨

The teen years are special and significant. Academic stress, identity, relationships, and big life decisions all hit at once, often while mental health challenges are emerging for the first time.

IGNITE at The Berman Center is built specifically for adolescents who need more than weekly therapy but want to keep moving forward with school and extracurricular obligations.

What IGNITE offers:
🧠 Group and individual therapy with peers in the same season of life
💪 Skills for managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and identity stressors
🎨 Electives like art, yoga, music, and meditation
🎒 Academic support, with academic liaisons and teachers on staff
🤝 A community of adolescents who get it

If you (or the adolescents in your life) need real support without pressing pause on life, IGNITE could be the right fit.

Reach out today to learn more.

Pride is being fully yourself—and being loved for it. 🌈

This month, we're celebrating:
🌟 Every person who lives boldly as their full self
🌟 The friends, families, and chosen families who show up
🌟 The therapists, neighbors, teachers, and strangers who say “I see you” and mean it
🌟 The next generation who will grow up knowing love has no limits

Healing happens in spaces where you don't have to explain or defend who you are.

Happy Pride, from all of us at The Berman Center!

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember those we’ve lost.

And we’re reminded how important connection is—for our mental health and for each other.

Take a moment to check in, reach out, or spend time with someone you care about.

What silence sounds like:
“I’m fine.”
“No one would understand.”
“I don’t want to be a burden.”
“I’ll deal with it myself.”

What community sounds like:
“Me too.”
“You’re not alone.”
“I’m here with you.”
“You don’t have to carry this by yourself.”

Because when we share, we heal — together.

"I should be able to handle this"

We hear this a lot.

But needing support doesn’t mean you’ve failed - it means you’re human.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to align with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and this year’s theme: Turning Silence Into Connection.

For so many, mental health struggles live in the quiet — behind closed doors, beneath “I’m fine,” and within the fear of being misunderstood.

But silence can be isolating.
And connection is where healing begins.

At The Berman Center, creating connection and community is at the core of everything we do. Sharing our stories helps break stigma and reminds us that no one has to navigate their journey alone.

This month, we invite you to be part of the conversation — because when we turn silence into connection, we make healing possible. 💛

In 2013, after almost 15 years of working in private practice as a licensed clinical social worker, The Berman Center's Founder and CEO, Alyza Berman, experienced the tragic loss of a client to an overdose. This loss deeply affected Alyza and brought clarity to her own life’s purpose. She started The Berman Center in 2017 with the goal of building a treatment center in the Atlanta community where a person of any race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status could truly be themselves.

Giving back is at the heart of what we do, both inside and outside of our walls 💙

Ignite at The Berman Center came together last week to prepare over 400 sandwiches for individuals in need in our community.

We are proud to support community organizations like and grateful for opportunities to serve alongside one another.
