Here is an example of saving teeth. In more than 20 years of providing advanced dentistry, we have not seen specialists in the area save teeth with an apicoectomy of one’s molars. So when we say we “protect what others can’t,” we really mean it. Even this patient was told by specialists the tooth could not be saved. With advanced skills, knowledge, and modern technology, teeth can be saved instead of having an extraction and implant. Apicoectomies have a success rate of 90+%. Another tooth saved!

A tooth with 2 roots and 4 canals. Retreatment has a high success rate, and if the tooth does not heal, an apicoectomy can still save the tooth and avoid a dental implant.

Too often, dental implants are presented as the 1st option when they should be the last option. Saving one's own teeth is the best treatment option. Natural teeth last longer, function better, and feel better compared to dental implants.

With modern dentistry, so much more is possible and better with laser technology and skill. With the skill and technique of using the Waterlase laser, most of the time numbing is not needed (avoid the shot!). The laser also cleans, disinfects, has less aerosol, and more. Where the drill traumatizes the tooth, leaves it dirty, creates a lot of aerosol, etc. Laser dentistry is so much better for the patient and the tooth.

Who would think that with laser technology and skill, one can avoid the painful shot and being numb for hours afterwards!? Modern laser technology is wonderful. That is a good question you ask: why don't all dentists use laser?
