National Disability Independence Day 🤍

Today, we honor National Disability Independence Day, commemorating the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990—a landmark civil rights law that helped ensure greater access, opportunity, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

At The Owen Academy, we believe independence isn’t one-size-fits-all.

For some children, independence is speaking their first word.
For others, it’s pointing to a picture to communicate a need.
It’s putting on their shoes, trying a new food, making a friend, using the restroom independently, or simply feeling safe enough to explore the world around them.

Every milestone—big or small—is worth celebrating because every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive at their own pace.

USF is widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier Applied Behavior Analysis graduate programs, known for its rigorous curriculum and consistently outstanding BCBA first-time exam pass rates.

Being accepted into a program of this caliber is an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of Paris’s dedication, work ethic, and passion for serving children and families.

🤍 Happy One Year, Zoe! 🤍

One year ago (in March), Zoe joined The Owen Academy as our Owner’s Executive Assistant, and we truly don’t know what we would do without her.

Over the past year, she has become an integral part of our team, helping keep everything moving behind the scenes. From coordinating schedules, organizing meetings, creating graphics, writing newsletters and emails, assisting with social media, planning events, and managing the countless details that keep our organization running smoothly, Zoe does it all with excellence and a smile.

Outside of The Owen Academy, Zoe continues to make a meaningful impact throughout our community. She owns and operates reedefined, her retail store in downtown Denison, partners with Texoma Run Club, leads ZRF Community Walks, serves as the Committee Lead for the Denison Youth Leadership Academy, and manages social media for several local businesses and organizations.

Her creativity, dedication, and heart for serving others are evident in everything she touches, and The Owen Academy is better because of her.

For the past two years, Keegan has been our go-to guy. He’s always willing to jump in wherever he’s needed. Whether he’s helping our administrative team, supporting our clinical staff, running errands, or tackling the countless behind-the-scenes tasks that keep our days moving, he does it all with a positive attitude and a servant’s heart.
