If you've needed antibiotics multiple times for sinus symptoms, it may be a sign that something more than "just another infection" is going on.

Many patients don't realize there are two common sinus conditions that may qualify for additional treatment options:

✔️ Chronic Sinusitis (CRS)
• Sinus symptoms lasting 12 weeks or longer
• Symptoms may include congestion, facial pressure, headaches, postnasal drainage, reduced sense of smell, and difficulty breathing through the nose

✔️ Recurrent Acute Rhinosinusitis (RARS)
• 4 or more sinus infections per year
• Episodes typically last 10+ days and often require repeated courses of antibiotics

While antibiotics can be helpful in certain situations, repeatedly treating sinus infections without identifying the underlying cause may leave many patients stuck in a cycle of temporary relief followed by recurring symptoms.

The good news? Depending on your diagnosis, some patients may be candidates for balloon sinus dilation, a minimally invasive procedure that can often be performed right in the ENT office. Balloon sinus dilation is designed to gently open blocked sinus pathways and help restore normal drainage without traditional sinus surgery.

If you're considering seeing an ENT, you may want to ask:
🔹 Can I be seen quickly?
🔹 Do you have an in-office CT scanner?
🔹 Do you offer minimally invasive treatment options such as balloon sinus dilation?
🔹 What does recovery look like if treatment is recommended?

You don't have to keep wondering if recurring sinus infections are "normal." The first step is understanding what's causing them.

How many sinus infections are "too many"?

If you're dealing with sinus symptoms for months at a time—or getting multiple sinus infections every year—it may be more than just "bad allergies" or "another cold."

Many patients don't realize that certain sinus conditions may qualify for treatment options such as balloon sinus dilation, a minimally invasive procedure that can often be performed in an ENT office.

✔️ Chronic Sinusitis
• Symptoms lasting 12 weeks or longer

✔️ Recurrent Acute Rhinosinusitis
• Four or more sinus infections per year, with episodes typically lasting 10+ days

If either of these sounds familiar, it may be worth having a conversation with an ENT specialist.

When choosing an ENT practice, consider asking a few important questions:

🔹 Can I be seen quickly?
🔹 Do you have an in-office CT scanner to help diagnose my condition during the visit?
🔹 Do you offer minimally invasive, in-office procedures such as balloon sinus dilation?
🔹 What does recovery look like if treatment is recommended?

Not all ENT practices have the same technology, diagnostic capabilities, or treatment options available in their office. Understanding what's available can help you make a more informed decision about your care.

If you're struggling with sinus symptoms, you don't have to simply live with them. Start by having a conversation with your ENT and learning what options may be available to you.

Do your sinus symptoms keep coming back over and over again? 🤧

Many people live with:
• Nasal congestion
• Sinus pressure
• Drainage/postnasal drip
• Headaches
• Difficulty breathing through the nose

…without realizing they may have chronic sinusitis.

The good news? You do not have to simply “live with it.”

Today, many ENT practices are able to:
✔️ See patients quickly
✔️ Perform in-office CT scans
✔️ Use tiny cameras to evaluate the nose and sinuses
✔️ Offer minimally invasive, in-office procedures like balloon sinuplasty

And here’s something important to know — not all ENT visits are the same.

Before scheduling, consider asking:
• What equipment does the office use?
• Will I need multiple visits before getting answers?
• Do they offer in-office imaging or minimally invasive treatment options?

Many primary care and urgent care offices simply do not have the specialized equipment needed to fully evaluate chronic sinus issues.

If your symptoms continue to return, it may be time to see an ENT practice that focuses on comprehensive sinus care.
