Join me next week at Yoga Off East for the next class in our series. I’ve titled it, The Peace of Wild Things and the Second Foundation of Mindfulness.

“When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”

-Wendell Berry

How does The Peace of Wild Things relate to the second foundation of mindfulness: feeling tones? Come and see for yourself. 🦌🌼🍃

🧎💗☀️Summer Sangha: A Meditation Series. Beginning THIS Sunday June 7th from 6-7PM !

Drop in or join for the full series.

I’ve decided to base this series on the four foundations of mindfulness. These concepts taught by the Buddha will be expanded on and stretched, inspired by the teacher Rob Burbea. He views mindfulness practice as ways of looking/relating to human existence that bring increased freedom and decreased suffering. As a bit of a rebel, myself, I appreciate how he pushes the edges of Insight Meditation.

👉Yoga Off East has opened up drop-in spaces if you have been interested in attending, but unable to attend the full series. To sign up for a drop in class on June 7th, 14th, 21st, and/or 28th from 6-7PM, simply visit the link in my profile, scroll to the date, and find my name.

This series is for all levels. Come. Bring a friend. Let me know if you have questions!

Around this time last year, I shared a Substack article called Being Nobody. At a time when it seems we are measuring our worth against external standards, it may be worth a (re)read.

Start writing today.

“The Way It Is” by William Stafford

“There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.”

☀️🐦Today is the last day to register for Summer Sangha: A Meditation Series with the early bird rate.🐦☀️

It may sound like a tall order, but I believe it to be true:

Meditation offers us the realization of peace. Peace that is inherent at the core of reality.

A reality in which we are able to loosen our grasp of clinging to experience, as a well resisting it— by coming to know the gift of radical acceptance.

One in which we come to realize ourselves and this human experience as something more fundamental and true than any finite experience.

And one in which we learn to be in a compassionate relationship with ourselves. We become both the holder and held as we discover the compassionate witness that resides in each of us.

In this space of wider awareness and deep connection and care to our internal experience, we naturally become beacons of fierce love for others. Our practice becomes medicine for this hurting world.

Sundays this June I am offering a meditation series at from 6-7 PM. I hope you can join us! Learn more and register via the link in my bio.
