For a lot of people with scoliosis, the question is not whether they can stay active. It is how.
What most people do not realize is that running does not directly treat scoliosis, but for many people it can absolutely still be part of a healthy, active life. The key is understanding how your specific curve, your age, and the condition of your spine interact with a repeated impact activity like running.
For some, no modifications are needed. For others, especially those whose spines have become less flexible after growth, running may place uneven forces through the spine in ways that need to be accounted for.
The goal is never to take activity away, but to make sure the activity works for your spine, not against it.
