It's ! 💚 Today we're appreciating Aisha, one of the wonderful Housekeepers at The Forest at Duke! Aisha has been part of our team since January 2018, and her favorite part of working at The Forest is building meaningful relationships with our residents and making their lives a little easier through the work she does each day. 🏡✨

When she’s not at work, Aisha enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking delicious meals, and relaxing at home. 😊

🎨 We're lucky to have such talented residents here at The Forest! 🌺

This gorgeous watercolor by resident Barbara Rohde, titled "Field of Poppies," is currently on display in our Grove Gallery. Rohde's process often begins with sketching outdoors, which helps her capture an idea, think about point of view, and consider the values she wants to achieve. Then, she begins to paint. "I like to incorporate texture in various ways such as brush strokes, splatter, drip, lifting, or pressing textures into the wet paint," she says. "Every painting is different, has a life of its own, and may become a stepping-off point for the next."

We strolled through the middle of with a Guided Fitness Walk around campus in beautiful fall weather, finishing up at a Healthy Happy Hour! We enjoyed wellness shots, a sparkling water bar, and nutritious treats. A very fun afternoon!

As our President Greg Garrett shared, this week “gives us a chance to celebrate the energy, curiosity, and sense of purpose that are such an important part of life at The Forest. Our residents continually remind us that growth, connection, and new experiences remain meaningful at every stage of life.”

It’s , and today we’re celebrating The Forest’s October Team Member of the Month, Oniku Carver, LPN in the Cohen Center for Health. 🥳

In his nomination, a resident shared that Oniku goes out of his way to help everyone he meets, greets others with a smile, and never leaves anyone in a jam. Christina Davis, Director of Human Resources, also recently had the opportunity to see that commitment firsthand when Oniku responded to two separate medical situations involving team members at the same time. He remained calm, professional, and attentive while making sure everyone received the care they needed.

Oniku will also celebrate his third anniversary with The Forest on October 11th! 🎉 Congratulations, Oniku, and thank you for the compassion, professionalism, and positive attitude you bring to The Forest every day!
