I'm trying out a new night salve I have real dry skin I added to a already made product I added Kombo Butter is made in Ghana, West Africa. It is 100% pure, unbleached and non-deodorised. Our Kombo Butter contains no additives. It is made from the seeds of the tree called Pycnanthus Angolensis, also known as the African nutmeg. It has a dark chocolate-brown color, with a typical fruity aroma. Tucuma Butter is obtained from the fruit of the Brazilian Amazon Tree (Astrocaryum Tucuma). Ever since my first experiments with making herbal oil infusions over 30 years ago I was struck by how quickly some plants transfer a lot of pigment into the oil.

How violet leaf infusions turn deep green within days while a fresh St. John's wort performs an almost magical transformation as the little yellow flowers turn oil a deep vibrant red.

I didn't know it back then but this pigment transfer is chemistry in action and it tells a story about your infused oil.

The yellows and golds tell you that carotenoids made the journey while reds indicate hypericin or other phenolic compounds.

Paler infusions like elderflower indicate more of the delicate terpenes are present.

The process of infusing still feels magical to me after all these years working with herbs and oils.

And as I learned more about the chemistry going on inside the jar, I realized it really is a magical process and one we can explain through science.
