H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel was established to meet the growing needs of families in Durham, NC and the surrounding communities with dignity, compassion, and integrity. We began as a licensed chapel in June 2025, operating under our parent company, K.N. Jones Memorial Care, LLC , and transitioned into a fully licensed funeral establishment in February 2026 to better serve the families who trust us with their care.

Our foundation is deeply connected to the life and legacy of Harry Davis Weaver Sr., in whose memory this funeral home proudly stands. Mr. Weaver devoted many years to the funeral service profession, serving families with strength, integrity, and a genuine heart for people. His dedication left a lasting impression on countless families and helped shape the standard of care we continue to uphold today.

At H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel, we carry forward his legacy by serving each family with the same level of care, professionalism, and personal attention that defined his work. With heartfelt sorrow, we share the passing of Ellisa Edwards White of Durham, NC. She entered into eternal rest on March 30, 2026.

We extend our sincere condolences to her family as they walk through this season of loss. May they find peace in the promise of God’s comfort and strength, and may the memories of her life bring light to the days ahead.

Service for Ms. White will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel. Service will begin at 12pm.

Today we celebrate one of our own, a true blessing to our funeral home family and to the community we serve. Pastor Jaylen is a dedicated servant after God’s own heart, always willing to step in, stand in the gap, and pour compassion into every family he encounters. His heart for people, steady presence, and spirit of service make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Pastor Jaylen was born on February 29, which means he only gets a “real” birthday every four years! 😄 So while the rest of us are out here aging annually, Jaylen is aging on God’s deluxe, extended warranty plan. 👦🏽👴🏾

🎉 GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉

We are excited to share a major milestone for our firm and our community!

H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel has officially surrendered its chapel license and is now fully licensed as a funeral establishment by the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service.

Our funeral establishment license was officially issued on February 15, 2026, which means we are now a full-service funeral home and may advertise and operate as such.

This achievement represents growth, perseverance, and our unwavering commitment to serve families with excellence, dignity, and compassion. We are proud to stand as Durham, North Carolina’s newest funeral home, ready to meet the needs of our community with trusted, professional care.

At the request of the family of Mr. Wilbert “Shake” Edwards, there will no longer be a one-hour visitation. They have decided to start the service at 12:15pm. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Wilbert “Shake” Edwards.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Edwards family during this difficult time. During this time of loss, we pray that God’s comforting presence surrounds you, offering peace that surpasses all understanding and strength for the days ahead.

Services for Mr. Edwards will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel (124 E. Edgewood Dr. Durham, NC 27704). Visitation will be held from 12pm-1pm and service will begin at 1pm. Interment will follow at Glennview Memorial Park.
