Amber is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) who works with children (6+), teens, college students, and adults. Amber brings so much joy and warmth to our team, and we can't wait for you to meet her!

While Amber is credentialing with insurance, she has immediate availability for self-pay clients and those interested in using their out-of-network benefits. Our office is happy to help you explore the best option for you!

We've been sitting on some exciting news, and we can hardly wait...

📦️ We're Moving! (But just a little!) We jumped on an opportunity to move into a more spacious, ground-level suite in our same building! As of Monday, June 29th, we'll be seeing clients in the new space. 🎉

It's a little bittersweet, as we imagined several more years in our cozy upstairs office, but life had plans for us to grow! We are so grateful for our time here and can't wait to see what lies ahead in Suite 121.

Some of our favorite upgrades include:
✴️ Improved accessibility
✴️ More room to stretch out
✴️ Windows in the waiting area
✴️ Space to sit outside

Another upcoming Summer Group at McKee Collaborative Therapy!

Registration is now open for "Epic Flexibility: Social-Emotional Learning for Rising 1st-3rd Graders"
▫️ How learning, messing up, and challenging our mindset are fuel for a healthy, growing brain!
▫️A five-part group series for ages 6-8

This group will be held at our office in Durham, NC
Weekly on Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm | Jul 15th-Aug 12th, 2026
$65 per session | self-pay, insurance accepted

Participants will learn:
✳️ How the brain changes and grows as they learn new things
✳️ To identify and describe how mistakes, failures, and challenges are positive and help them grow
✳️ The differences between a fixed and growth mindset
✳️ The power of YET and perseverance

Meet your group facilitator, Jessica Suarez, LCSWA:
As a clinical social worker, Jessica is passionate about building strong social supports and empowering each individual child on their unique journey. Through creative problem-solving and a compass-ionate, steady presence, she creates space for understanding, self-discovery, and growth. Jessica supports clients in their development of emotional awareness and self-confidence, stronger relationships with peers and caregivers, and practical tools for navigating social challenges.

We're so excited to announce that Summer Groups are here at McKee Collaborative Therapy!

This first group we're offering is perfect for teens preparing to be on their own for the first time after high school, newer college students navigating reduced built-in support, and anyone in-between!

Registration is now open for "Beyond Reminders: Executive Functioning for Emerging Adults"
▫️ Promoting agency & autonomy, and exploring systems for self-management with fading adult support
▫️A four-part group series for ages 16-19

This group will be held at our office in Durham, NC
Weekly on Thursdays, 6-7:30pm | July 9th-30th
$85 per session | self-pay, insurance accepted

Participants will learn how to:
✳️ Build systems that work for their brain
✳️ Manage responsibilities with greater independence
✳️ Strengthen planning, organization, & follow-through
✳️ Advocate for themselves effectively
✳️ Prepare for college, work, & adult life

Meet your group facilitator, Dr. Rachel McKee:
As a clinical psychologist, Rachel is passionate about helping teens and young adults better understand themselves and develop systems that support success in everyday life. Drawing from her background in school psychology and behavioral science, she takes a collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming approach that emphasizes self-understanding, practical skill-building, and growing independence.

Insurance Update!

McKee Collaborative Therapy is thrilled to expand access to our comprehensive mental health services to include individuals & families with these additional Medicaid plans:
🔹 Healthy Blue (beginning June 15, 2026)
🔸 Carolina Complete Health (beginning July 1, 2026)

We believe in equitable access to quality mental healthcare, and we're honored to play a small part by bringing services to North Carolinians with these insurance plans. We're always learning and growing, and we'll provide updates as our ability to accept new insurances grows and shifts with time. 💚

As our Office Administrator, she is often the first person you’ll connect with at McKee Collaborative Therapy. With a background in psychology and years of experience supporting children and families, she brings warmth, organization, and proactive support to the client experience, helping with client onboarding, care coordination, insurance and billing guidance, and overall office operations.

We're available for new child, teen, and adult therapy clients! We provide in-person therapy at our Durham, NC office as well as telehealth therapy throughout North Carolina. Our providers are currently in-network with most Aetna and BCBS plans, as well as Medicaid Direct!

Alex Neinast is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor. She specializes in working with individuals exploring identity or deeper understanding of themselves, who have substance use concerns, or who are experiencing life transitions, disability and chronic health conditions, anxiety, burnout or stress.

Jessica Suarez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. She specializes in working with individuals experiencing life transitions, anxiety and stress, or who are exploring self-esteem, coping skills, emotion regulation, or relationship and communication challenges.

We are committed to making mental health care as accessible and attainable as possible for everyone. While many practices choose not to accept insurance, we see partnering with insurance providers as one way to reduce barriers and honor our commitment to inclusive, client-centered care.

We are currently in-network with:

☑️ BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS)
☑️ Medicaid Direct
☑️ United Healthcare (UHC)

Please note that provider participation varies, and certain plan types may still be considered out-of-network. Visit our website to learn more about each provider's network status.
