Our Open House is this Saturday, and the heat wave will hopefully be over by then! This heat is great for the blueberries though, and there should be some ready to pick- and eat!

We're excited to share our space and our food and drink with you. Although this is an outdoor event, the place stays pretty cool andwe do have provision for shade.

If you haven't yet, please RSVP to let us know you're coming! Looking forward to seeing you!

It is definitely summer! The raspberry bushes are going crazy, the blueberries are just about ready, and we’ve been having fun coming up with creative tasty ways to use the bounty of the garden (oregano pesto, anyone?)! We can’t wait to have you sample some of our goodies at our upcoming open house!

If you haven’t already, please RSVP so we know you’re coming! Invite your friends and neighbors!

Persistence pays off! This is the best crop of cherries we’ve ever seen.

The cherry tree was not very healthy when we moved onto this land. It was surrounded by landscape cloth up to its trunk and the bark had been damaged by a w**d whacker. We removed the landscape cloth, planted a plant guild at its base, and added another cherry tree across the orchard. In addition, it is skillfully pruned every year by Erik Matteo of The Tree Stewards. This picking is just what I could reach from the ground and a short stepladder. Might be time to get an orchard ladder!

And the raspberries are doing great too! We’re getting fresh raspberries every day!

Come see us at our Open House on July 25th and maybe even pick some berries!

Most of the landscape is pretty self-sustaining when it comes to water, but with the heat wave coming, I needed to get out and give everything a good soaking this morning. The reward was getting up close and seeing what bloomed in the last couple of days! They survived the rains, and hopefully they’ll survive the heat!

This morning, after feeding the pigs and placing my new art piece in the sanctuary garden, I was just going to do a quick walk around the property and remove the old blooms from the hydrangea. 3 hours later the hydrangea looks great, the rhododendron has been pruned, there's a wagon full of trimmings, and 10 primroses and 2 hostas have been transplanted. It's not work if you enjoy it, right? 🥰Thankfully I had a massage scheduled for this afternoon!

What's blooming today? Although we got a bit beat up by the rain and hail today, things are still vibrant and beautiful!

This weekend’s project: the berry patch!

Last year we tripled the size of the berry patch and fenced it in to keep the deer out. This year, the older beds needed some thinning and the trellises needed some love 💕

Thanks to a couple of great helpers, we’re set for berry season! The bees are so happy and we’re excited for yummy berries! 😋

And bonus- a bird’s nest with 2 little eggs behind the blueberry bushes!

Now that the creeping buttercup is gone- for the moment- I’m thinking of some companion plants for the berries. What do you think they would like?
