I’ve been trying to find the words for what it means to have completed the very first Neuro-Adaptive Massage Therapy (NAMT) course yesterday, because this has been years in the making.

NAMT was born somewhere at the intersection of my endless curiosity with neuroscience, nearly two decades of working with bodies and teaching massage, and my own health challenges with autoimmune that forced me to start asking very different questions about the human body - and more generally - the human experience.

For years, pieces of NAMT existed in books I read, research I was dug through, conversations, notes in my phone, things I was teaching, and experiences with clients. And then this summer, I decided it was time to actually offer it. I worked on this course morning, noon, and night - quite literally😂.

My family watched me disappear into my computer for hours on end as I tried to distill years of curiosity, learning, lived experience, and half-formed ideas and turn them into something that could actually be taught.

Underneath all of that work was also a tremendous amount of vulnerability, because eventually you have to take the thing that has lived safely inside of you and put it out into the world.

And then the first group of students said yes, signing up before there was any proof of what NAMT would become. I love you all so deeply 🫶🏽

Then Dan agreed to jump in beside me and, as we kept saying, “ride the wave of uncertainty.” As a co-instructor, he brought his own wisdom and perspective into this thing I had been carrying for so long. I cannot imagine NAMT without him.

This week, after six weeks of learning together online, we finally came together in person, and I got to watch something that had existed inside my head and heart for years become real. That is a very hard feeling to describe.

I think I have spent much of my professional life searching for the thread that connects the things I care most deeply about: massage therapy, neuroscience, the mind-body connection, human experience, teaching, and helping people feel more deeply understood.

NAMT feels like that thread, and more than that, it feels like my life’s work. ❤️

INTRODUCING: Aubrie Moran (she/her) - Student Clinic Supervisor & TA

My name is Aubrie, she/her. My journey into bodywork has been guided by an enduring curiosity about what helps people heal, thrive, and feel at home in themselves. This curiosity led me to study massage and craniosacral therapy and one of the greatest joys of my work is helping people reconnect with the innate wisdom of their bodies.

After graduating from Green Mountain Massage School in 2020, I balanced bodywork with a career in research compliance and oversight at the University of Vermont before transitioning to full-time bodywork in 2025. I now practice in Newport, VT, after relocating from Burlington to the Northeast Kingdom.

My work blends refined therapeutic skills with intuitive, energetic approaches. In addition to massage and craniosacral therapy, I am a budding dreamworker and shamanic practitioner. I have apprenticed with Tracey Forest of Spirit Hollow in Shaftsbury, VT and will soon continue my studies with Sierra McFeeters at the Indigenous Roots Institute in Woodbury, VT. I look forward to seeing how these skills continue to inform my current practice. Whether through therapeutic touch, mindful awareness, or cultivating a deeper relationship with the living world around us, I believe healing often begins when we remember that we are not separate from our bodies or  nature, but are deeply woven into both.

When I’m not in the treatment room, you’ll most likely find me wandering the woods communing with the more-than-human world, or sitting beside a lake or river with my toes in the water. I live in a tiny house nestled in the woods with my partner, who is a graduate of Balance Massage School—so yes, we’re quite literally living the dream!

I’m honored to support the Balance Massage School of Vermont by bringing together my experience as an educator, my love of lifelong learning, and my passion for somatic healing. It is an honor to help support the next generation of thoughtful, skilled, and heart-centered bodyworkers!

INTRODUCING: Amber Wodtli (she/her), LMT - Massage Application Instructor

I bring over 25 years of experience to the world of Massage Therapy, blending deep anatomical wisdom with a playful curiosity for how the body, mind, and spirit work together. Rooted in a strong foundation of Sports and Neuromuscular Therapy, my approach to bodywork is both collaborative and holistic; honoring ancient wisdom while integrating modern neuroscience, movement education, and restorative care. My work supports both amateur and professional athletes, empowering clients to cultivate greater self-awareness, prioritize intentional self-care, and embrace recovery and renewal as integral components of health and wellness.

A lifelong lover of nature, I believe healing often mirrors the rhythms of the natural world: grounded, adaptive, and deeply interconnected. Whether riding my bike on the trails, soaking in the mountain air, or simply finding stillness outdoors, I draw inspiration from nature’s ability to restore balance and resilience - qualities I bring into every treatment room and classroom.

As a Massage Therapy instructor for 19 years, I am highly respected for my dedication to my students and their educational experience. My teaching spans Ethical Practices, Therapeutic Bodywork, Sports Massage, Cupping and Gua Sha, Community Outreach, and Research Development. My passion for integrative medicine and vision for the future of holistic healthcare continue to evolve and I am committed to cultivating meaningful collaboration between ancient wisdom and modern medicine, to help shape a more connected and compassionate healthcare system.

INTRODUCING: Dan Barone (he/him) - Ethics & Business Instructor, Student Support Guide

I have a diverse background and immersive experience in both the therapeutic space and corporate world. My unique approach stems from my journey on the road less traveled; the path of firsthand learning and the (often challenging) wisdom it teaches. My greatest teachers are my two children, aged 16 and 12.

Well-versed in many facets of business, I spent years in the financial sector and have operated independently since 2020. My inspiring journey through depression, addiction, and recovery is empowering and served as the catalyst for my therapeutic work. Drawing from my lived experience, holistic training, and years of both receiving and providing emotional support, my work as a Wellness Practitioner to support individuals on their own healing journeys through thoughtful reflection, mindfulness, ecotherapy, and body-centered therapy.

I have a huge heart for others and am thrilled to support the students of Balance Massage School throughout their learning experience and afterwards. I love going for walks and talks, being immersed in nature, and playing my heart out in any pickup sport (especially volleyball)!

I am absolutely elated to introduce this all-star lineup of BMSVT faculty!

As we enter into this next phase of BMSVT, I find myself feeling incredibly humbled, honored, and grateful for the humans who have chosen to step into it with us. The caliber of this group extends far beyond their knowledge and expertise. It’s their heart, integrity, character, and genuine commitment to our students and this profession that make me so excited for what’s ahead.

Please help me welcome Dan Barone, Amber Wodtli, Harlyjane Pelletier, and Aubrie Moran to our 2026–27 faculty!

We’ll be sharing individual bios and roles over the next few days so you can get to know each of these incredible souls a little better. But for now, I just want to say how deeply grateful I am to be surrounded by a team built on trust, transparency, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to doing this work together.

I truly cannot wait to step into this next chapter of BMSVT alongside them. What a team. ❤️
