Good afternoon, all! I have some Peace Meals answers to share.

What are the requirements?

You must be at least 60 years old and live in Illinois. This is not a need/income based program. They encourage EVERYONE that meets the age requirement to participate.

Do you have to dine in?

Participating restaurants determine this. We are currently making ours for dine-in or carry out. No delivery. Part of the program’s goal is to get seniors out in to the community.

Do you have to eat these meals 5 days a week?

No. The Peace Meals representative said this is probably being confused with their home delivery program. This is not that. You purchase tickets and use them when you’d like.

How many tickets can I use each day?
You may use up to 3 tickets a day if you’d like - breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Can you donate tickets?

No. Each individual has a number. Without a number, they can’t be allocated to an individual. If you’d like to donate to the Peace Meal program as a whole, you can do that. The program is funded by grants and donations. You aren’t able to anonymously donate tickets to someone in need in our community.

How do I join the program?

Stop in and fill out a one time application and purchase your tickets. Peace Meals representatives are currently scheduled to be at our restaurant on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

Are there other places I can use my tickets?

The list of local-ish participating restaurants are Farmer’s Cafe in Farmer City, Uncle Vait’s in Lexington, King’s Crossing in Odell, Station 343 in Dwight and Edinger’s Filling Station in Pontiac.
*Restaurants can choose to offer peace meals only on certain days or at certain times. We are currently allowing them to be used at any time. If that changes, we will post. It’s a learning experience for all of us. If you’re traveling to other restaurants, you may want to check with them to make sure tickets are being honored when you visit.

How much are tickets?
$4 😳 I’d gladly not cook for $4!
