Cautionary Tale•••
Dr. Richard Cape, board certified ophthalmologist, anterior segment specialist has been in private practice for 33 years.
Dr. Cape was the first eye surgeon to perform corneal transplant surgery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. In 33 years, he has performed thousands of corneal transplant surgeries. Patients travel from hours away to have him perform this specialized surgery.
Organ donors- they are God's gift to human kind. They willingly offer their most precious gift upon the end of their life. Donors give their hearts, lungs and even.... their eyes to individuals who could either die or in the case of eyes... go blind.
Dr Cape has said on multiple occasions... he truly views the gift from cornea donors as sacred. He treats the donated cornea tissue with the utmost care and reverence.
Obtaining cornea tissue... obviously requires the ultimate gift from the donor. After this, it's a tedious process to secure the tissue, have it delivered at a specific time, get the necessary equipment onsite, have the equipment prepped and ready then secure the needed staff to perform the intricate surgery.
The Cautionary Tale....
Today this surgery was scheduled to be performed. The patient was secured , notified in advance, had agreed he/ she was ready and coming in today.
Today that patient chose to not call and not show. When we finally reached this person , he/ she stated they weren't coming ... " had to work next week.... might do it later."
Fantastic ending...
So many people are desperate for corneal transplant surgery and realize Dr Cape is the best. The second patient on the transplant waiting list was notified.... guess what? This lucky person hit the jackpot and will receive the gift of sight later this afternoon!!! We are beyond thrilled for this lucky person!!!!
Back to cautionary tale....
The patient who decided they just weren't going to show up... had to work... maybe do it next week....not only did they lose the ultimate gift of radically improved vision. They will also need to find a new eye care provider. It will not be our surgeon.
At Cape Regional Eye Center, PLLC and Cape Surgery Center, LLC- we hold our patients and staff in the highest regard and treat them with respect and dignity. We truly strive for excellence in each and everyone of our patients' eye care experience.
We expect the same in return....nothing less....
Thank you to all of our patients that have been so kind, loyal and respectful over the last several decades. It's been our honor to serve you.
Celebrating 25 years of Team Cape Strong 👊🏻👊🏻
