🌟 Meet Our Maple Ridge Team — Dorothy Brown 🌟

As we continue introducing the people who help make Maple Ridge what it is, we’d like you to meet Dorothy Brown, Shift Supervisor, who has been part of our team for 14 years.

Dorothy is dependable, trustworthy, and consistent. Through life’s hardships and challenges, she has continued to find a way to balance her personal life with her responsibilities at Maple Ridge—showing up, fulfilling her duties, and providing care to our residents.

Our late Bill Ables once described Dorothy in a way that has stayed with us:

“She’s someone you can depend on. She will be here, and she’s always early.”

Those words still describe Dorothy today.

Fourteen years of service speaks to more than longevity. It represents years of showing up, caring for residents, supporting coworkers, and being someone others know they can count on.

As a Shift Supervisor, Dorothy continues to be an important part of our Maple Ridge team.

Dorothy, thank you for your dedication, dependability, and the care you continue to provide. We are grateful to have you as part of the Maple Ridge family. ❤️

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from Maple Ridge Assisted Living! 🇺🇸

Today, we celebrate the hardworking men and women who have helped build our families, our communities, and our country.

At Maple Ridge, Labor Day has an especially meaningful place in our hearts. Our residents represent decades of hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and service. They raised families, built careers, served their communities, and helped shape the world we live in today.

We also want to recognize our Maple Ridge team. Caring for others takes patience, compassion, commitment, and a whole lot of heart. Thank you for the work you do every day to make Maple Ridge feel like home.

Today is a day to rest, enjoy good company, and celebrate a job well done.

Our first Maple Ridge Football Saturday is officially in the books!

The residents gathered around the TV, the snacks were flowing, our staff joined in on the fun, and there was plenty of cheering to go around. Judging by these pictures, some of us may have been HERE FOR THE SNACKS more than the football. 😂

After all that talk about a HOUSE DIVIDED, Tennessee and Alabama both walked away with a WIN today.

So for Week 1…

🧡 Vol fans: 1–0
❤️ Bama fans: 1–0
🏡 Maple Ridge: UNDEFEATED!

This is exactly what Saturdays are supposed to look like around here—good food, football, laughter, friendly competition, and time spent together.

But don’t get too comfortable, Bama fans… October 17 is coming. 👀🏈 Tennessee and Alabama meet at Neyland Stadium that day.

A huge thank-you to our favorite florist, Blossoms Flowers & Gifts of Dyersburg, for making sure Maple Ridge is officially GAME DAY READY! These bows turned out PERFECT!

Around here, we believe in keeping the peace… at least until kickoff. 😂

The doors are decorated, the residents are choosing their teams, and the friendly rivalry has officially begun!

🏈 Football season is kicking off at Maple Ridge! 🏈

We have fans of two teams under one roof — Tennessee Vols 🧡🤍 and Alabama Crimson Tide ❤️🤍 — and we’re getting ready to help our residents celebrate their teams all season long!

The schedules are up, the decorations are coming together, and our residents are already making their grand entrance through the Game Day Tunnel! 🏈

Kickoff is Saturday, but we’re starting a little early at Maple Ridge because we have some serious game-day preparations to handle!

And while we promise to celebrate BOTH sides equally…

Shhhh… 🤫 between us, we all know there’s nothing quite like GOOD OLE ROCKY TOP! 🧡🏈

❤️ When Is It Time to Start Considering Assisted Living?

This is one of the hardest questions a family can face—and there isn’t always one big event that provides the answer.

Sometimes it’s a series of little things.

Maybe Mom isn’t eating as well as she used to.

Maybe Dad is forgetting medications.

Maybe the house isn’t being kept up like before.

Maybe there have been a few falls or close calls.

Or maybe they’re physically doing okay, but they’re spending most of their days alone.

In fact, sometimes the best time to start the conversation is before there is one.

Monday Matters ❤️ — Independence Matters

One of the biggest misconceptions about assisted living is that moving in means giving up your independence.

At Maple Ridge, we believe it should be just the opposite.

Assisted living is about having support where you need it while continuing to do the things you can for yourself.

Our residents still make choices about their day. They visit with friends, participate in activities, enjoy time in their rooms, get their hair done, spend time outside, visit with family—or sometimes simply decide they don’t feel like doing much at all!

Our job isn’t to take over.

Our job is to be there when we’re needed.

Sometimes that means assistance with daily needs. Sometimes it’s medication support. And sometimes it’s simply knowing someone is nearby if you need a helping hand.

A little support can help someone maintain a lot of independence. ❤️

That’s what assisted living is supposed to be.

❤️ Sunday Reflections — What Makes a Place Feel Like Home?

A building can have beautiful rooms, comfortable furniture, good meals, and plenty of activities.

But those things alone don’t make it home.

Home is knowing the people around you.

It’s having someone notice when you’re having a quiet day.

It’s knowing where you like to sit, how you take your coffee, what makes you laugh, and when you might just need a little company.

It’s having your own space and independence while knowing someone is nearby when you need them.

At Maple Ridge, we provide assisted living—but what we’re really working to create is a community where people can continue living their lives, just with a little more support.

Some days are busy with activities and laughter.

Some days are quiet.

And some Sundays are simply made for slowing down, visiting with friends and enjoying the comforts of home. ❤️

Because assisted living shouldn’t mean giving up the feeling of home.

It should become another place you can call home.

👀 SNEAK PEEK SATURDAY — It’s All in the Details!

Another week means a little more progress at Maple Ridge of Dyersburg! ❤️

If you’ve been following along, you know we are still very much in the repair, renovation, and preparation stages—but every week we get to see a few more pieces come together.

This week, we’re looking up! 👆

New lighting, new ceiling fans, and more of those finishing touches are starting to find their place.

Some changes are big. Others may seem small. But every fixture installed, every repair completed, and every detail checked gets us one step closer to turning this building into a place that feels like home.

We still have plenty of work ahead of us, and we’re not rushing the process. We want to take the time to do it right.

And yes… we’re still going to make you wait to see the finished product. 😉

Until then, we’ll keep giving you a little peek behind the curtain each Sunday!
