Our amazing Nurse Practitioner, Claire Maxey, is over at Avivo Village with clients Rafpheal and Amanda. Sage Prairie Family Care provides medical and addiction care to people at the Village, a temporary shelter, with tiny houses!

Sharing a post from a couple years ago. Important to think of resilience as intergenerational too.

Now that’s empowering! We do know that trauma is passed on from generation to generation and can even alter DNA ( ) but it is rare to hear people talk about inter generational resilience. It makes so much sense though,, especially if your family is not the source of your trauma. Some professionals have been critical off the recent “fad” of focusing on ACEs and trauma because they feel that there is little we can do as professionals to address the factors that play a part in people’s trauma and that by pointing out there trauma with no solutions, we are further traumatizing them. While that is probably true of our healthcare system as it stands, I tend to disagree that we can’t do anything. It just means we need to function in a different way. Not judging, making people feel seen and heard, empowering them to develop skills in resilience AND utilizing the power of their positive relationships in their life.

Sage Prairie Community Resources (a 501 C 3 non-profit, benefiting those who lack access to recovery due to financial reasons) will be hosting a rummage sale May 22nd and 23rd! We have a month to prepare! We will need lots of treasured belongings that need a new home and volunteers to help!
