Since opening his first McDonald’s restaurant in Del Rio in 1976, Mr. Mendoza has built an enduring legacy rooted in leadership, generosity and service. His steadfast support of local organizations, first responders, education initiatives and the Del Rio Police Department reflects his deep commitment to the community he calls home.

🙌 NIIICE! — UMC earns national recognition for community health impact

EAGLE PASS, Texas — United Medical Centers has earned national recognition for its continued commitment to community health, receiving a $7,500 award for Federally Qualified Health Center engagement during the National Association of Community Health Centers’ Community Health Institute Conference, held earlier this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event brought together community health leaders from across the country, where UMC stood out and shined on a national stage, bringing positive attention to the region and making Southwest Texas proud as it so often does.

The recognition highlights UMC’s ongoing work to improve access to healthcare and help more than 40,000 patients achieve healthier outcomes throughout Maverick, Val Verde and Kinney counties.

UMC provides care across the region through a team of approximately 55 healthcare providers, offering essential services to communities where access to medical care remains critically important.

UMC CEO William Worrell said the recognition reflects the organization’s continued commitment to the communities and patients it serves across the region.

“We are proud to be recognized for our continued involvement in the community and for the work our team does every day to help more than 40,000 patients achieve healthier lives and healthier outcomes,” CEO William Worrell said. “Through the care provided by our 55 providers across Maverick, Val Verde and Kinney counties, we remain committed to making quality healthcare accessible and improving the health of the communities we are privileged to serve.”

Representatives from United Medical Centers were on hand for the recognition, including CEO William Worrell, Board Chairman Jose De Luna, Board Member Juliet Martinez, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Zylberg, Chief Nursing Officer Marina Rodriguez, Chief Financial Officer Julie Rivera, Chief Information Officer Juan Apolinar, Human Resources Director Linda De Los Santos, Director of Operations Lucia Rosas and QI/QA Director Roxanne Coronado.

The award was presented during the NACHC Community Health Institute Conference, which brings together community health center leaders and professionals from across the country to share best practices and celebrate achievements in public health.

UMC officials said they were proud to be recognized for the organization’s continued involvement in the communities it serves and its efforts to improve health outcomes for thousands of patients.

The recognition also places a national spotlight on the work being carried out locally by UMC physicians, providers, administrators and staff throughout the three-county region.

For United Medical Centers, the $7,500 award represents more than financial recognition — it reflects the organization’s continued focus on expanding healthcare access, strengthening community partnerships, and serving the needs of families across Southwest Texas.

¡Excelente!
