Dr. Michael J. Lynch

was born December 26, 1932 in Webster, N.Y. and passed away on July 21, 2026 in the comfort of his own home in East Aurora, N.Y. He was predeceased in 2010 by his dearest friend and wife, Jane Domanski Lynch, as well as his son Daniel O'Gorman Lynch and his sister Eileen Atwood. Michael is survived by his children, including Jennifer, Terry and Cynthia, his sister Sharon, his close friend Diane Meyer, his many caring aides, and his longtime assistant, Angela, who has been with him since 1990. Dr. Michael Lynch was raised in Webster, N.Y. and kept many friends from grammar school and high school. He attended University of Rochester, and eventually Queens University medical school in Kingston, Ontario, which was also attended by his father, Dr. M. Gerald Lynch. After his medical residency, Dr. Lynch was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study at a psychiatric facility in London, England. Dr. Lynch began his private psychiatric career in Buffalo, N.Y., eventually having the largest solo practice in mood disorders from Niagara Falls to New York City. He found it immensely gratifying, getting so many people well after years of illness. In 1968, he grew his career to include forensic psychiatry, a new field at the intersection of medicine and law. Dr. Lynch became well known as an expert on the insanity defense, and was appointed to serve on the American Psychiatric Association (APA) panel that advised the Supreme Court on psychiatric issues. In 1994, the American Boards of Psychiatry and Neurology launched a new subspecialty in Forensic Psychiatry. At age 61 in 1994, he passed the inaugural exam, as well as a maintenance certification in 2003, and the subsequent full recertification exam in 2013 at the age of 80. Dr. Lynch continued his private practice until he went blind in 2018 at the age of 85. Even after that, he was asked to testify on a case in 2020, and had the voluminous materials read to him so that he could give a telephone deposition. It was his final case. Dr. Lynch said: "Getting into medicine gives you an opportunity to serve your fellow man. My career in forensic psychiatry and in treating depression was the most rewarding thing I could have done." Outside his medical practice, Dr. Lynch enjoyed travels with his wife, and was a member of Crag Burn, East Aurora Country Club and the Country Club of Buffalo, golfing with his many friends and colleagues. Dr. Lynch was able to stay in his home until his passing. He enjoyed his weekly visits with his friend Leo Blatz. His friend Phil Abramowitz made regular visits. His 95 year old friend, Billy Cumminsky, visited and read the sports and news to "Mike", as he affectionately referred to him, until Billy's death in late 2024. Dr. Lynch was thrilled by the achievements of his children and grandchildren, including that one granddaughter is following in the family profession of medicine and psychiatry. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in East Aurora, N.Y. Donations in Dr. Michael J. Betty E. Goss

RICHMOND, IN– Betty E. Goss, from Richmond, Indiana, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away Thursday morning, June 11, 2026, at Forest Park Health Campus in Richmond. “Miss Betty” was (101) and is reunited with her husband, Ira, who passed away in 1993. Betty missed Ira dearly and would often say, “I wish your Father would get back here.”Betty was born on November 19, 1924, in Buffalo, New York, to Lyman Jackson Eddy and May Blue Eddy. During her life, she lived in East Aurora (New York), Buffalo, Tonawanda (New York), and back to East Aurora before moving permanently to Hilton Head Island in 2001. Continuing to reside there, she also became a resident of Richmond from 2018 until her passing. Betty attended R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology) and graduated in 1945 with a Degree in Art. Betty’s early career was as a commercial artist drawing clothing ads for prominent newspapers in Buffalo and New York City. She continued her career in commercial art after marrying Ira, became a stay-at-home Mom (including sewing clothes for her boys), and then transitioned into Interior Decorating, where she started her own business, Betty Goss Interiors. Upon retirement, Betty enjoyed cross-stitch, Needlepoint, Knitting, Scrapbooking, and Crossword Puzzles. She loved animals (including her dog, Mitze, and cats Missy and Keena), and she was an avid reader. She attended the Lutheran Church and was proud to be a 75-year member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her sons, Ira “Sandy” (Susan) Goss, Don (Rebecca) Goss, grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Bickford, Stephanie Goss, Kayla Goss, and Melissa Hyland, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Avery, and Kenna Bickford. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ira A. Goss, brother, Lyman “Jack” Eddy, and Daughter-In-Law, Tami Sue Goss. Visitation for Betty E. Goss will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Cliff Nunn officiating. Paul Pawlak

Paul Pawlak, a man known for his unwavering loyalty, honesty, and exceptional work ethic, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, in East Aurora, NY. Born on December 3, 1964, in Buffalo, NY, Paul lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, love for his family, and deep appreciation for the outdoors and artistic expression.

A proud graduate of Iroquois Central Schools, Paul embarked on a career that spanned over three decades at General Welding, where he served as both a fabricator and quality control engineer. His professional journey was distinguished by the many welding certifications he diligently obtained, reflecting his commitment to excellence and his continual pursuit of mastery in metalwork. Beyond his technical skills, Paul was an accomplished metal artist, carrying his creative spirit into intricate and meaningful creations.

Paul’s personality left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a genuinely good man—humble, generous, and unfailingly kind. Known for his friendly demeanor, he forged friendships wherever he went, drawing people with his warmth and sincerity. Devoted to his children, Paul’s generosity was well-known; he would gladly offer the shirt off his back to those in need. His love extended beyond people to animals as well, underscoring his compassionate nature.

An avid outdoorsman, Paul cherished his time in nature, finding peace and joy in the wilderness. He enjoyed restoring furniture and collected folk art, pursuits that highlighted his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. In addition, Paul was skilled in leatherwork, often taking on projects that showcased his talents and passion for handmade artistry.

Paul is survived by his beloved children, Lucas Pawlak and Angela Pawlak, who carry forward his legacy with pride and love. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: Geri (Jay) Peterson, Tina (Dennis) Tetkowski, Joe (Patricia) Pawlak, and Jacqueline (Kenneth) Zotara. His memory continues to be honored by many nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his kindness and generosity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Pawlak, whose memories live on through the family they helped nurture.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on June 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. The services will be held at the Kenneth Howe Funeral Home, located at 64 Maple Street, East Aurora, NY 14052.

Paul Pawlak’s life was a testament to dedication, kindness, and creativity. His presence enriched the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished with profound respect and love by all who knew him.
