Betty E. Goss
RICHMOND, IN– Betty E. Goss, from Richmond, Indiana, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, passed away Thursday morning, June 11, 2026, at Forest Park Health Campus in Richmond. “Miss Betty” was (101) and is reunited with her husband, Ira, who passed away in 1993. Betty missed Ira dearly and would often say, “I wish your Father would get back here.”Betty was born on November 19, 1924, in Buffalo, New York, to Lyman Jackson Eddy and May Blue Eddy. During her life, she lived in East Aurora (New York), Buffalo, Tonawanda (New York), and back to East Aurora before moving permanently to Hilton Head Island in 2001. Continuing to reside there, she also became a resident of Richmond from 2018 until her passing. Betty attended R.I.T. (Rochester Institute of Technology) and graduated in 1945 with a Degree in Art. Betty’s early career was as a commercial artist drawing clothing ads for prominent newspapers in Buffalo and New York City. She continued her career in commercial art after marrying Ira, became a stay-at-home Mom (including sewing clothes for her boys), and then transitioned into Interior Decorating, where she started her own business, Betty Goss Interiors. Upon retirement, Betty enjoyed cross-stitch, Needlepoint, Knitting, Scrapbooking, and Crossword Puzzles. She loved animals (including her dog, Mitze, and cats Missy and Keena), and she was an avid reader. She attended the Lutheran Church and was proud to be a 75-year member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her sons, Ira “Sandy” (Susan) Goss, Don (Rebecca) Goss, grandchildren Jennifer (Matt) Bickford, Stephanie Goss, Kayla Goss, and Melissa Hyland, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Avery, and Kenna Bickford. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ira A. Goss, brother, Lyman “Jack” Eddy, and Daughter-In-Law, Tami Sue Goss. Visitation for Betty E. Goss will be from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Cliff Nunn officiating. Following the service, Betty will travel from Richmond to East Aurora, where there will be a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Kenneth Howe Funeral Home, 64 Maple St., East Aurora, N.Y. This visitation will include a service by Betty’s home chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. After the visitation, Betty will be taken to the Oakwood Cemetery in East Aurora to be reunited with Ira and all her family and friends in Heaven.
