📊 BCBA Exam Prep: Mastering Interobserver Agreement (IOA)
IOA is one of those topics that seems simple—until the exam asks you to choose between Total Count IOA, Mean Count-per-Interval IOA, Exact Count-per-Interval IOA, and Trial-by-Trial IOA!
My quick rule:
✅ Total Count IOA → Compare session totals
✅ Mean Count-per-Interval IOA → Average smaller/larger ratios across intervals
✅ Exact Count-per-Interval IOA → Count intervals with exact matches only
✅ Trial-by-Trial IOA → Agreement on occurrence/nonoccurrence for each trial
🎯 BCBA Exam Tip:
Don’t memorize formulas alone. Learn the keywords that signal which IOA method the question is asking for.
