Jeffrey W. “Jeff” Smith, age 55, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly August 29, 2026.
He was born April 29, 1971 in East China. Jeff graduated from Marine City High School in 1990.
He worked at IAC in Port Huron for 29 years. He lived for his son Brandon, whom he was very proud of and he had a passion for his Harley Davidson.
He is survived by his son; Brandon Smith, his parents; Nelson and Linda Smith, his brother; Kevin Smith, nephew; Kody Smith.
He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Milford and Margaret Smith, Doug and Virginia Robb, his uncle; Duane Smith and aunt; Cindy Belzyt.

Gregory A. Masch, age 67, of St. Clair, passed away August 29, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 29, 1959 in Detroit to the late Raymond and Juliann Masch.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 8 years.
Greg enjoyed spending time with his friends from high school and his furry friends; Shadow and Joey.
He is survived by his sister; Brenda Henson, brother; Doug (Rose) Masch and sister; Judy Crews.
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Brian (Debbie) Henson, Holly (David) Maraldo, Doug II (Carrie) Masch, Steven (Christina) Masch and Nicole (Drew) Davis, along with great-nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister; Jill Marie Masch and brother in-law; Harry Henson.

Military honors will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visiting hours will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. prior to military honors.

Barbara Jean Watson of Marine City MI, age 79, passed away August 28, 2026. She was born October 18, 1946 to Robert and Dorothy Burns. Beloved mother of Dawn (Lee) Fleischmann, Dean (Amy) Watson, and Robbie Watson. Dearest sister of Billielee (Pat) Cates and the late Richard “Dick” Burns. Most devoted Grammy of Madison and Emilee Fullington, Rodney Fleischmann, Hailee, Mylee and Layne Watson. She also shared a special and lasting bond with Matthew (Monica) Fullington, who remained like a son to her throughout the years.
Barb married her high school sweetheart Don Watson in 1968 who passed away in 1993. She later was with her long time partner Russ Beattie until his death in 2017. She also leaves a host of many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many friends to list.

Barb was truly one of a kind. She was loving, caring, fiercely protective, strong-willed, and stubborn in a way that made her unforgettable. She had a devious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and a personality that could light up a room.

Barb’s family was her world, especially her grandchildren. She never missed a football game, cheerleading competition, horse show, softball game, wedding, birthday, baby shower, or family celebration. She was always there when someone she loved needed her, no matter the time or distance. If one of her grandchildren needed a ride home from Coyote Joe’s at 2 a.m., Grammy was getting in her van, which she did almost every thursday night,...

Kathleen Ann Comment “Pootsie”, born October 2, 1951, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026 at the age of 74.

Kathy is survived by her sisters, Barbara Lingenfelter and Karen Comment, and her brother Rob Comment. Nieces and nephews, Dawn Stackpoole, Scott Comment, Kelle Vertin, Nick Comment, Amber Comment and Nichole Lingenfelter and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mary Lou Comment.

Kathy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at MediLodge, Residential Hospice and her wonderful roommate Trisha, for their kindness, compassion and wonderful care they provided Kathy.

Kathy’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

Peter Joseph “Pete” Fox, age 64, of Marysville, passed away August 23, 2026 after a short illness. He was born March 15, 1962 to the late Edward and Marguerita Fox of Frankenmuth. He married Lisa Likins on May 5, 1990 in Frankenmuth.
He graduated in 1980 from Frankenmuth High School as Salutatorian and then earned his Bachelor Degree from Hillsdale College where he studied history and political economy and was Valedictorian in 1984. He then went on to earn his Master Degree from the University of Michigan.
Pete taught at St. Clair High School for 40 years and had a passion for teaching history. Throughout his career he coached football, track and swimming at various high schools in the Blue Water Area.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years; Lisa Fox, his daughter; Emily Fox, his son; Jacob (Natalie) Fox and their children; Isabella, Benjamin, Rose and daughter; Elizabeth Fox.
He is also survived by his sister; Elizabeth (Wes) Parsons, his brother; Patrick (Renee) Fox, along with his nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his much loved labrador retriever; Georgie.
He was preceded in death by his brother; John Fox.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Rosary will be Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Maverick Dutton Cottrell, age 2, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 21, 2026. He was born on December 15, 2023 to Zachary Markey and Mary Cottrell. Maverick was passionate about anything that had wheels. Cars, bikes, toys, strollers- if it had wheels, Maverick was spinning them. Zach would take him to various car meets, where Maverick got to play, see all the big trucks, and make them honk their horn at him. He was a bundle of energy, who also loved throwing balls. When he did have a quiet time- his favorite show was Bluey. His infectious smile, bright blue eyes, and energetic personality will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Zachary (Taylor Workman) Markey, Mary (Jacob Bean) Cottrell; siblings, Jackson, Stetson, Greyson, Savannah, Emersyn; grandparents, Beki (Nathaniel) Braun, Todd (Jamie) Pomper, Renee Cottrell, Brad (Liz) Zdral, Amy Porter, as well as many special family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday. Aaron James Shovan, age 45, passed away on August 21, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 21, 1981 to Margaret and the late Verne (Bill) Shovan. He married his other half, Lindsey Watson on July 10, 2009.
Aaron graduated from Marine City High School in 1999. After graduation, you were most likely to find Aaron competing in some sort of sport. Whether it was basketball, hockey, softball, volleyball, or paintball. As life progressed and started to slow down, Aaron discovered his true passion of cooking. He loved to try new recipes and make food for everyone. If anyone ever had a tragedy, illness, or just a bad day- he would cook them something to eat. He spent countless hours in the kitchen preparing whatever anyone wanted. He showed his love to those around him through his food, because that is what made him the happiest.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsey; son, Aiden Shovan; mother, Margaret Shovan; brother, Scott Shovan; in-laws, Lynn and JoAnn Watson, Ashley (Travis) Lusko; nieces, Ashley Scharp and Emmie and Mia Lusko; along with many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Verne (Bill) Shovan.

Robert “Bob” Zickgraf, age 84, of Marysville, passed away unexpectedly in his home August 19, 2026. He was born March 2, 1942 to the late Charles and Ellen Zickgraf.

On December 15, 1962 Bob married Susan J. Good. She preceded him in death following 59 years of marriage.

Bob worked with various manufacturing companies as quality supervisor in the automotive industry. He was a passionate deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing. As an avid outdoorsman Bob enjoyed many snowmobiling and camping trips to Lake of the North in Mancelona, Michigan, fly fishing and canoeing the AuSable River and tending to his huge garden.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son in law, Cindy (Dave) Liniarski; son and daughter in law, Rob (Jody) Zickgraf; grandchildren, Timothy (Maria) Liniarski and Lance Zickgraf; great grandchildren, Finnigan and Elyza; sister, Sheila (Joe) Fidler; nieces and nephew, Barbara (Fred) Stroud, Bridget Jennings and Zachary (Anna) Zickgraf and great nephew, Max (Tiffany) Jennings.

He was preceded in death by his brother (Chuck (Alex) Zickgraf.

Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be scheduled.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Martha Gutowski, age 71, of Columbus Twp., went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2026. She was born on September 6, 1954 to the late Genevieve and George Siudym. Martha married David Gutowski in 1974. Martha will forever be remembered for her heart of gold. A selfless woman, who always put others needs before her own. She was an excellent cook- who specialized in desserts, especially her cheesecake and brownies. Martha found peace in looking out her window, enjoying nature and the birds in her backyard. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her granddaughter, Addalyn and her grand puppies. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her ability to nurture, care and generous soul will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, David Gutowski; their children, Amy and her husband Jason Zirnis; and her granddaughter, Addalyn Plonka, her son Michael Gutowski and his wife, Diana Jowett. As well as her sisters, Georgine Siduym and Mary Shillingburg.

A funeral mass will be on Thursday, August 20th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Memphis. Visiting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to mass.
