Exchange Ambulance of the Islips Proving EMS to the residents of Islip, East Islip, Islip Terrace and Great River since 1951.

We respond to approximately 3,700 calls a year for emergency medical assistance. Our district stretches from Connetquot Avenue in Great River to Saxon Avenue in Islip and from the South Shore to Spur Drive on the north end including all of Hecksher State Park and parts of Connetquot State Park, 2 school districts, and 4 fire districts. Calls for emergency medical assistance are answered by our fiv

e New York State Department of Health Certified ambulances and two First Response vehicles. Besides answering calls for emergency medical assistance, Exchange Ambulance also provides “standby” EMS services for special events such as concerts, sporting events, and other large gatherings of people. Our Special Operations vehicle is equipped with large amounts of supplies and specialized equipment to handle these “standby’s” as well as large numbers of injuries in the event of a large scale disaster. An EMS Bike Patrol unit and All Terrain Vehicles assist us in providing medical care in any situation, be it a crowded concert or parade or a remote wooded area. Due to our specialized equipment and experience in handling theses types of events, Exchange Ambulance has been called upon to provide our assistance for large scale events throughout Suffolk County.

Join Exchange Ambulance of the Islips for our Trunk or Treat & Community Open House on Saturday, October 17th from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at 100 Carleton Avenue, East Islip!

Bring the whole family for a spooktacular afternoon filled with Halloween fun, candy, decorated vehicles, and a chance to meet the members of Exchange Ambulance and see some of our emergency vehicles and equipment up close.

This is a free, family-friendly community event, and costumes are encouraged!

It is with profound sadness that the Chief’s Office announces the passing of 37-year Life Member and Ex-Chief Bruce J. Stark, who has answered his last alarm.

Bruce dedicated nearly four decades of service to Exchange Ambulance, beginning in our Youth Squad before rising through the ranks to become Chief. His commitment to our members, our patients, and our community leaves a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Stark family, especially his brother, Ex-Chief Gary Stark, and to all who had the privilege of serving alongside Bruce.

Thank you for your years of dedicated service, Chief. Your watch is over. Rest easy—we’ll take it from here.

Yesterday, Exchange Ambulance responded to a mutual aid request from CIHVA to the scene of a working commercial structure fire in Central Islip.

Our rehab unit, 3-27-1, and an ambulance, 3-27-16, responded to provide firefighter rehabilitation and EMS support as needed for the incident.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ex-Chief Leigh Anderson.

Chief Anderson dedicated countless years of service, leadership, and commitment to Exchange Ambulance and the communities we proudly serve. His years of service and friendship touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kathy, a fellow Life Member of Exchange Ambulance, and their family and friends during this time.
