As Delicate Doula Services continues to grow, I want to take a moment to recognize someone who is often behind the scenes but is absolutely essential to everything we do.

Nakita is not my employee. She is my equal, my business partner, and co-owner of Delicate Doula Services. We built this business together, and every decision, every family we serve, and every success we celebrate is a reflection of our partnership.

She is thoughtful, compassionate, incredibly knowledgeable, and deeply committed to every family she serves. She has a way of making people feel seen, heard, and supported without ever needing to be the loudest voice in the room. Her calm presence, steady guidance, and genuine heart are gifts to the families who have the privilege of working with her.

One of the things that makes our partnership so special is that we are different—and that difference is our strength. We each bring unique perspectives, experiences, and strengths to the work we do. While our approaches may not always look the same, our values are deeply aligned. We both believe in meeting families where they are, providing evidence-based support, and walking alongside people with compassion and respect.

Nakita's quiet strength balances my energy. Her thoughtful nature complements my spontaneity. She sees things I may miss, asks questions that make us better, and brings a depth of wisdom that strengthens both our partnership and the care we provide.

The best teams are not made up of two people who are exactly alike. They are built by people who trust, respect, and learn from one another. That is what we have built together.

I am incredibly grateful for Nakita—not only as my co-owner, business partner, and best friend, but as a doula whose passion, dedication, and heart help shape Delicate Doula Services every single day.

Every conversation, every question, and every hug reminds us why we love this work so much.

Now we wait for the next little one to make their arrival while we recharge with coffee and good company. ✨

The Region 2 & 3 Perinatal Quality Collaborative is hosting a Town Hall in Alpena. May 19th 5-7pm.

We are looking for Michigan Families to come and join this event.

A light dinner will be provided, and gift cards will be available for families that attend. Children and breastfeeding are welcome! We will also have Spanish interpretation available on site.

✨ 5 births in the last week and a half ✨

The last week and a half has been a whirlwind in the most beautiful way — Delicate Doula Services has had the honor of supporting FIVE births and we are still soaking it all in.

Every single family, every story, every labor space has been different… and that’s what makes this work so powerful. We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families from all walks of life, in all kinds of circumstances, each one reminding us that birth is never “one size fits all.”

We are so deeply honored to be invited into such sacred moments — to witness strength, vulnerability, joy, uncertainty, resilience, and love all wrapped into one life-changing experience.

We truly love what we do, and weeks like this remind us exactly why we do it.

We feel incredibly blessed to serve our community, and even more motivated to keep pushing forward — advocating, educating, and helping create the kind of maternal care families deserve.

Because every birthing person deserves to feel supported.
Every family deserves to feel heard.
