As trails and parks get busier, health experts are seeing a rise in e-bike and scooter injuries across Michigan.

MSU Health Care Sports Medicine’s Dr. Micah Lissy says these devices are often misunderstood: They’re not toys—and they can cause serious injuries, including head trauma.

What you can do:
• Wear a helmet every time
• Stay aware of your surroundings
• Ride in control and respect shared spaces

New research raises questions about its long-term benefits. According to MSU Health Care physical therapist Shayan Ghadamabadi, DPT, it may still help with short-term pain relief and movement.

But it’s not a fix for the root cause. Use it as part of a recovery plan—not a replacement for care.
