🌟 Parent Tip: The Power of Specific Praise🌟

A few extra words can make praise much more meaningful. Behavior-specific praise helps children understand exactly what they did well and which positive behaviors we want to encourage again. 💙

Whether it’s waiting, sharing, cleaning up, asking for help, or sticking with something difficult, naming the behavior helps connect the praise directly to the action.

Significant changes to BCBA and BCaBA certification requirements take effect on January 1, 2027. To be reviewed under the current 2022 requirements, your complete application (including payment and all required documents) must be received by December 31, 2026. ✨ ABA Vocabulary Spotlight: Functional Communication Training 🗣️💬

Communication is more than just words. It is about having a way to express what we need, want, or feel.

Functional Communication Training, often called FCT, focuses on teaching a meaningful and appropriate way to communicate a need that may otherwise be expressed through challenging behavior.

That communication might look like:

🗣️ Saying or approximating a word
👉 Pointing or using a gesture
🖼️ Using a picture or communication card
📱 Using an AAC device
🙋 Asking for help, a break, or something they need

The goal is to help learners discover that communication works and give them tools they can use in everyday situations. 💙❤️💛

🌊🐠 Under the sea at FBS! 🐢🪼

Our learners got incredibly creative with a fun, ocean-themed art activity! Using bright paints, colors, and their favorite sea creatures, they designed their very own underwater scenes. 🎨✨

Activities like this provide natural opportunities to practice:

🎨 Creativity & self-expression
💪 Fine motor skills
🧩 Making choices
📝 Following steps and sequencing

And we have to say… these underwater masterpieces came out pretty awesome! 🐳🏆
