Jesse Thomas “Tom” Burns was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 2, 1948, to Jesse O. and Kathryn Morris Burns. Four years later, his brother Timothy Allen Burns was born to complete their family. J. O. and Kathryn were trained musicians, and both Tom and Tim began piano lessons at young ages and played in many recitals. When Tom started high school, the family moved to Tempe, Arizona, where he joined the choir, began his vocal training, and met his future wife, Susan Mecham. As he developed his beautiful, rich baritone voice, he participated in numerous concerts and musicals throughout high school. He was selected as one of two high school singers in the state of Arizona to tour Europe with the School Chorus of America in 1966.

Both he and Susan attended Arizona State University as Vocal Performance majors and maintained a close friendship as they sang together in a variety of performances during their college years. He and his duet partner received the first-place prize of $5000 at the Your All-American College Show in 1969. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1970 and began his Master of Music degree that same year. Tom was accepted at the elite Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he studied and performed with opera stars from around the world. He later performed as a soloist with the Phoenix Opera Company and several choral groups in the Phoenix area. One of the highlights of his singing career was...

In Loving Memory of Carol Janice Sether

It is with profound sadness and endless love that we announce the passing of Carol Sether, a devoted mother, cherished sister, loving grandmother, and treasured friend.

Carol was the heart of her family. As the beloved mother of three children, Aubrey Warren, Nathan Sether, and Renee Sether, she filled their lives with unconditional love, strength, wisdom, and warmth. Her greatest joy came from watching her children grow and from being a constant source of comfort and encouragement through every season of life.

She shared a special and lifelong bond with her sister, Cheryl Hawes, and her two brothers, Lynne Barsten and Jerrald Barsten. Dale Sether (ex-husband) also remained a close friend and loving caregiver to the end of her life. They were all an important part of her life and heart.

To her four grandchildren, Landon, Alyssa and Eli, she was more than a grandmother. She was a source of joy, kindness, reassurance, and endless affection. She treasured every moment spent with them, and the love she gave will remain with them throughout their lives.

Carol will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, strength, and generosity. Her presence brought warmth and fun to every gathering with her infectious laugh. She was born and raised in Wenatchee, WA, the place she loved to call home. Her career included 38 years at Confluence Health (previously Wenatchee Valley Clinic) before retiring in 2024....

Caring Bridge post with Becky:
I wanted to plan a fun day for my granddaughters and have them be part of my journey, so I had this idea…since I’m bald, why don't I have them tattoo my head with temporary tattoos? What a fun day for everyone! We had BBQ, bedazzled sunglasses and decorated my head. They did a great job!

Making memories, laughing, and enjoying spending time together is important, especially during tough times.

This will be a day we will remember & smile.

A lot has happened since the last post. My cancer marker has tripled, and the CT scan showed the tumor has grown, not what I expected.

The oncologist had to change my "chemo cocktail", I suggested pina colada, but he wasn't on board for that LOL.

I will be going in every Tuesday for 3 weeks on and 4th week off for recovery with the new plan, and then shots 3 days a week to help my low white blood cells, and I couldn't have chemo last week. I had my first round this week.

I am going to say forever, "God's got this." I have learned that faith isn't about having all the answers, but trusting the One who does. Even when my heart is heavy and the road ahead feels uncertain, I hold onto hope, knowing that God is still writing my story. I may bend, but I won't break. I may cry, but I won't lose faith. Because even in the darkest moments, I know God is holding me together.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. We are updating the Caring Bridge page often!
