MRS. SUE FLORENCE DOLLAR-HENDERSON, age 80, of Eastman, GA passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylvester, GA with Mrs. Andrea McCranie officiating.

Sue was born in Punta Gorda, FL on December 10, 1945, at the family’s winter home, to the late Bonnie Jean Maxwell Florence and Glenn Florence, Sr. She was raised in Douglasville, GA, where she graduated from Douglas County High School in 1963. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Georgia and earned Masters Degree and Specialist Degree from West Georgia University. Sue taught 8th grade English for the Douglas County Board of Education, in Douglasville, for over 26 years helping to shape the hearts and minds of many students over the years. She was a member of Sweet Water Baptist Church in Douglasville, and enjoyed reading, bicycling, hiking, and walking. She moved to Dodge County in 2002, where she attended Eastman First Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Joy Sunday school class. She was especially proud of her grandson, Ethan, who served honorably for 6 years in the United States Navy.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Lee Dollar (31 years) and Gary Lee Henderson (11 years), and several brothers and sisters, June Florence Beard, Glenn Florence, Jr., Doug Florence, Ann Florence Shipp, and John Florence.

She is survived by her Daughter – Suzette Dollar of Eastman, GA; Son – Gerald “Lee” Dollar, Jr. of Eastman, GA; Grandson – Ethan Erickson of Anderson, SC; Sister – Nan Pledger (Randy) of Murray, KY; Numerous Nieces and Nephews; Special Family Friends – Judy Barron (Michael Corn) of Orange Park, FL and Sharon Shipp of Douglasville, GA.

MRS. BERTHA YANCEY SNYDER, age 67, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Bryant Healthcare and Rehab in Cochran, GA.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Bertha was born in McRae, GA, on February 2, 1959, and was the daughter of the late Reuben Thomas Yancey and Elsie Grace Register Yancey. She attended Eastman Bible Baptist Church and was a 1977 graduate of Dodge County High School. She later moved to Atlanta, GA, before moving back to Dodge County in the early 1990s. She worked at Gilman Paper Company for a few years before working as a daycare worker at Great Beginnings for several years. Bertha enjoyed sewing, making bracelets, all sorts of crafts, doing yard work when she was able, and discovering new movies to watch with her granddaughter. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Danielle Snyder, brothers, Reuben Thomas “Tommy” Yancey and Roy Bohannon, and brother-in-law, Wendell Wingo.

She is survived by her Daughter – Beverly Snyder of Eastman; Grandchildren – A.J. Quinares (Jasmine Calderon) and Aria Andries, both of Eastman; Sister – Jenny Wingo of Eastman; Sister-in-law – Bonnie Bohannon; Several nieces and nephews including, Eli Wingo (Kelsie); Numerous extended family members and friends.

Angela Denise Holt Newton, 58, of Kathleen, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. She was born on June 19, 1968, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to Jack Elmer Holt, Sr. and Linda (Mullis) Holt.
Angela was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. She was a dedicated and hardworking professional with an exceptional work ethic. At the time of her passing, she was employed with Ricoh as a Senior Accounting Manager, a position in which she took great pride.
Angela found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time at the beach and traveling and had a special appreciation for a good rainstorm. She loved watching “Survivor” and would follow every season when it aired. But more than anything, Angela cherished her family. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved them deeply. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and love that will continue through the generations.

Angela was preceded in death by her father, Jack Elmer Holt, Sr.; her sister, Lana Joy Holt; her maternal grandparents, Jeter and Mary Grace Mullis; and her paternal grandparents, Lewis and Evelyn Holt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Michael “Lance” Newton; her sons, Sean Brett Conley and Brian Kent Conley; her granddaughter, Tessa Rae Conley; her mother, Linda Holt; her brothers, Jack Elmer Holt, Jr. and Thomas David Holt; her niece, Hannah Leigh Holt; her nephew, Brandon Thomas Muncher; her great-nephew, Levi Jay Muncher; her aunt, Valerie White; and her cousins, Michelle Kilgore and Kimberly Gutierrez. She will also be lovingly remembered by countless family members and friends whose lives were touched by her.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory.

A service celebrating Angela’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Reverend Emory Howell will officiate.
Interment will be private at Parkway Memorial Gardens.

Angela’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to her family, and the countless memories she leaves behind.

MR. SANDY L. COLEMAN, age 84, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in At Home Senior Living in Cochran, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM, Tuesday, October 6, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Daniel Cook and Rev. Robbie Passmore officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Sandy was born on August 21, 1942, in Dodge County. He was a dedicated member of Cottondale Baptist Church and was a 1960 graduate of Dodge County High School. He was a retired Supervisor of Large Business Telephone Systems for AT&T and later owned and operated Coleman TVRO Service, where he worked as an Electronics Technician and a TV Satellite Sales and Service provider for many years in the 1990s through the early 2000s, selling his business in 2004 and retired to be at home with his wife, Martha Raye. They enjoyed their retirement years together on their farm. Sandy was skilled in electronics repair and helped many people with their equipment through the years. He was a dedicated husband of 65 years and a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his family, tending to his cattle, and working around his home and shop. His hobbies included painting landscapes and woodworking. In his later years, he and his wife enjoyed spending time in Brunswick, GA in their home away from home. During his time in Brunswick he was a member and worshiped the Lord at Calvary Baptist Church. Sandy had a genuine heart for service and helping others through his skills and his dedication to anybody he met along life’s path.

Sandy was the son of the late Albert P. Coleman and Corine Ussery Coleman and was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Evelyn Giddens, and brother-in-law, Gene Rogers, Jr.

He is survived by his Wife – Martha Raye Giddens Coleman of Eastman; Daughter – Andrea Haywood (Ken) of Dublin; Son – Mike Coleman (Gina) of Eastman; Grandchildren – Hannah Morgan (Will), Josh Coleman (Lauryn), Jennie Page (Thomas), and Cole Haywood; Step Grandchildren – Logan Spires (Willie), and Dalton Mullis (Chelsea); Great Grandchildren – Annie Morgan, Norah Morgan, and Gabe Morgan; Step Great Grandchildren – Noelle Spires, Juliet Spires, and Lucas Mullis; Sister – Cherry Rogers of Eastman; 1 Niece and 2 Nephews; Several Cousins and Numerous Friends.

MRS. MARY FRANCES ROGERS WILSON, age 88, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Dogwood Gardens.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, October 8, in Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Emory Howell and Rev. Craig Minor officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Plainfield.

Mary Frances was born in Eastman, GA on August 16, 1938, to the late Mary Bell Smith Rogers and Young Rogers. She was a member of Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Plainfield and was a 1956 graduate of Dodge High School. She graduated from Macon Cosmetology School and worked as a beautician at several salons over the years. She married her husband, Herbert Lee Wilson on May 7, 1964, and was the mother of two children, Natalie and Nathaniel. She was a devoted wife of 43 years and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Mary Frances enjoyed shopping and traveling especially family trips to the beach and the North Georgia mountains. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Grandma”. She was a devout Christian lady and enjoyed singing in the choir and worshiping with her church family at Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church for all her life.

In addition to her parents, Mary Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Wilson, grandson, Quinn Conley, and siblings, Sara McLeod, Betty Sue Brown, and Tawana Ellington.

MRS. GERRY BACON TAYLOR, age 55, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Dodge County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, October 6, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Gr***de and Rev. Jeffrey Wyatt officiating, with interment in Ocmulgee Cemetery.

Gerry was born in Dublin, GA, on November 4, 1970, to Edward Bacon and Clara Mae Powell Bacon. She was a 1989 graduate of Dodge County High School, of the Baptist Faith, and attended Lovely Grove Baptist Church. She married the love of her life, Lee Taylor, on June 18, 1994, and enjoyed thirty-two wonderful years of marriage. She was blessed with two children and made many happy memories with her family over the years. She worked for the United States Postal Service for over twenty years at several post offices including Wrightsville, Scotland, Rhine, Milan, Chauncey, and most recently, for the Helena-McRae office, where she was the office manager and clerk. Gerry was a dedicated wife, and a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved thrift shopping finding treasures at every flea market, playing with her nieces and nephews, and taking care of her family and her pet chickens. She especially loved taking trips to the North Georgia Mountains, specifically to Hiawassee, with her husband, family, and friends. It was her and Lee’s special place where they spent the better part of fifteen years perfecting their mountain getaway.

Gerry was preceded in death by her father, Edward Bacon, daughter, Laura Leigh Taylor, sister-in-law, Mitzi Taylor Studstill, and a niece, Candice Taylor.

MR. JAMES MICHAEL “MIKE” HOLDER, age 68, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, GA.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, October 4, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Mr. Tim Brown and Rev. Arnold Rye officiating.

Mike was born on January 13, 1958, to the late Carlton and Mary Holder. He was a lifelong resident of Eastman, of the Baptist Faith, and attended Dodge County High School. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon leaving the Navy, he started his construction company, Holder Construction, and worked as a master carpenter before retiring in 2016. He could build just about anything and enjoyed tinkering in his shop, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and spending time with his family, especially his 4 granddaughters, who gave him his favorite title of “Pa”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Russ Holder; brother, Earl Holder; and infant sister, Susan Holder.

He is survived by his wife, Monica Holder; daughter, Bree Harrell (Bryant); granddaughters, Annie, Heidi, Charlotte and Libby Harrell; brother, Scott Holder (Kitten); nephews, Coty Wiggins (Sloane), Chris Holder (Chelsey); niece, Carlie Holder; several great-nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

MR. WALTER WILLIAM SINGLETARY, age 48, of Six Mile, SC and formerly of Eastman, GA, passed away on September 30, 2026, at his residence.

Walter was born on February 20, 1978, in McRae, GA and was of the Christian faith. He attended Dodge County High School and received his Aircraft Structural Technology Degree from Heart of Georgia Technical College. After completing his degree, Walter worked several years as a civil service employee at Robins Air Force Base. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a family man who loved gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, raising chickens, and working in his yard. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, and hanging out with family and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Singletary and Cathy Hansen, infant brother, William Edward Singletary, and his sister, Tammy Singletary.

MRS. BRENDA SUE JUMP ROGERS, age 77, of Eastman, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in the Dodge County Hospital.

Brenda was born on August 27, 1949, in Chauncey, GA and was a member of Cottondale Baptist Church and later Hillside Baptist Church. She attended school in Dodge County and married her husband, Billy Ray Rogers, on October 12, 1973. They made their home in Eastman, where they raised their family. She worked as a textile worker for 17 years at C & J Manufacturing and worked at Standard Candy Company for 9 years. Brenda was a dedicated wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Franklin Jump and Mary D***s Jump, son, Daron Rogers, granddaughter, Briana Perdue, stepson, Mark Rogers, and 7 siblings, Barbara Lynn, Linda Campbell, Shirley Edwards, Randall Jump, Ken Jump, Ernie Jump, Davie Jump.
