Good evening - Welcome back to our series of educational posts about mental health!
Each Thursday you will find tidbits of information about various mental health disorders and how therapy can help. Tonight we will take a look at Conversion disorder:
Conversion disorder is when a person has nervous system-like symptoms, such as seizures, difficulty walking, tremors or weakness that are real but not caused by a clearly defined medical disease.
Therapy helps an individual with CD by helping to connect stress, trauma and symptoms in a safe, nonjudgmental way. Grounding, calming and stress management skills are often taught alongside supporting daily functioning and reducing fear of symptoms.
If you or a loved one are experiencing any of these symptoms, feel free to reach out to our group for support!
