🌟 HIGHLIGHTING OUR HOSPITAL TEAM: DR. KOSTELNY, DVM 🌟

As part of our Highlighting Our Hospital Team series, we’re excited to introduce you to another one of the wonderful people who helps make our hospital what it is — Dr. Kostelny! 🩺🐾

Born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kostelny attended Delaware Valley University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduation, she moved to the Midwest and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri. Before returning to the Lehigh Valley, she completed a one-year Comparative Medicine internship at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Dr. Kostelny has been part of the Cummings Veterinary Hospital family since 2014! Throughout her journey toward becoming a veterinarian, she held several positions within our hospital, including receptionist, veterinary assistant, and veterinary nurse. After years of dedication, hard work, and pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, she joined our practice as a DVM in 2025. ❤️

Her journey makes her story especially meaningful to us. Dr. Kostelny has grown alongside our hospital, working in multiple roles and gaining experience in so many areas before achieving her goal of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. We are incredibly proud to have been part of her journey and are so excited to see her continue her career as one of our veterinarians! 🐾

Dr. Kostelny has a special interest in exotic companion mammals.

Outside of the hospital, she is a proud bunny mom to three rabbits: Daisy, a rambunctious Mini Rex; Beamer, a sweet Lionhead; and Snowy, a strong-willed Lionhead! 🐰🐰🐰

🌟 HIGHLIGHTING OUR HOSPITAL TEAM: DR. ERIN SCHMICK, DVM 🌟

As part of our Highlighting Our Hospital Team series, we’re excited to introduce you to the people who make our hospital what it is — starting with Dr. Erin Schmick! 🩺🐾

Born and raised in Macungie, Pennsylvania, Dr. Schmick has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian since she was just six years old. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University before traveling to St. Kitts to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her clinical year at the University of Illinois and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2025.

Dr. Schmick’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery and shelter medicine, and she is passionate about providing compassionate care to her patients and their families.

Outside of the hospital, she enjoys traveling, going to the gym, listening to music, and spending quality time with her family. She is also a proud cat mom to her two adopted island cats, Lady and Dutchess. 🐱🐱

We’re proud to have Dr. Schmick as a member of our team and look forward to sharing more about the wonderful people who care for your pets every day. ❤️

Our hospital is closed today so our team can celebrate the holiday with their families.
We hope you and your pets have a fun, safe, and happy Independence Day! Please remember to keep pets secure during fireworks, as loud noises can be frightening for many animals.
