A new update on NDI-5001 points to real progress in treatment research for X-linked congenital NDI. It is not an approved cure, and it is still early, but the latest milestone matters.

You may see AVP-R in medical records, research updates, or conversations with healthcare providers. It stands for Arginine Vasopressin Resistance, another name for Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus.

For some children living with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI), diet isn’t optional. It’s part of treatment.

A very low sodium diet, prescribed by a physician, helps reduce the kidneys’ workload. When paired with protein management, adequate hydration, and appropriate medications, it becomes a critical piece of care.

But there’s a tradeoff. Restrictive diets can make it harder to get enough essential vitamins and minerals. That’s why ongoing guidance from a registered dietitian matters. Monitoring intake isn’t just helpful. It’s necessary.

I’ve been working with the Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus Foundation (NDIF)—a small organization focused on a rare condition most people have never heard of.

Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI) affects how the body handles water. For the families dealing with it, it’s not abstract. It’s constant. It’s daily management, uncertainty, and a system that doesn’t always have answers.

That’s the gap this page is meant to close.
