We wanted to take a moment to thank VegMichigan for visiting and treating our staff this month!

VegMichigan promotes the health, environmental, and ethical benefits of plant-based eating, and they always do such a wonderful job of sharing their philosophy in a fun and non-scary way. They spent time with our team, cooked some delicious food for everyone to enjoy, and even provided food for our staff to take home!

VegMichigan has been a wonderful partner of Island City Assisted Living for several years now, and we truly appreciate the continued kindness and generosity they show our team. Thank you, VegMichigan, see you next year!

Day Five of National Assisted Living Week! It was our fifth and final day of our week-long celebration of National Assisted Living Week — Shining Through the Years! Today’s theme was Carnival Day, full of classic carnival games, prizes, and of course, all the classic carnival fare: corn dogs, funnel cake, and popcorn! It was the perfect finish to a fantastic week. We have truly enjoyed every single day of this celebration, and to every staff member, resident, family member, volunteer, and friend who helped make it so special — we appreciate you more than you know. I’ve gotta say… I’m a little tired, but I’d do this whole week all over again next week if we could! What a wonderful place to call home.

Day Four of National Assisted Living Week! Our very own Ice Cream Man, J.C. Challendar, at large! What a fun and fantastic afternoon as J.C. made his rounds, serving up ice cream the old-fashioned way! He was SO proud of his job, and our residents absolutely adored the entire experience. Look how cute he is!!! The smiles, the laughs, and of course, the ice cream made this one sweet day to remember! “Shining Through the Years” has never looked—or tasted—so good!

Day Three of National Assisted Living Week at ICAL! A big THANK YOU to PowerBack Rehabilitation for bringing back some old-school fun today! We had such a great time playing beanbag tic-tac-toe and a good old-fashioned game of croquet—just like back in the day! And of course, we loved our adorable little croquet socks too!
This has been such a fun week celebrating Shining Through the Years, and the best part is… we still have TWO more days to go!

Day Two of National Assisted Living Week here at Island City! Today was Rockin’ Through the Ages. We were disappointed that our maintenance crew from the Baseline Band weren’t feeling their best and couldn’t join us, but we were overly grateful that our longtime favorite, Mr. Bob Bryan, came in and rocked the house on the piano. And of course, no party is complete without beer and pretzels! The toughest decision of the day? Corona, Budweiser, or Root Beer? Around here, we take our happy hour decisions very seriously.

Thank you to all of the friends and family who came out to play and enjoy the afternoon with us!

We are celebrating National Assisted Living Week early this year (like always!) Today was dedicated to our AMAZING staff at ICAL. While many wore their caregiver shirts and some their scrubs, they received special handmade cards from our residents along with a much-deserved round of applause. They were given keychain tokens to remind them they are special, and of course, the pizza party that you just can't not have. I couldn't get every single staff in a picture, so if you don't see your face - still know we love you and are proud of you. You will never know the impact you have on us all. This place wouldn't be as wonderful without you.
