At We Adapt, we tend to do things a little differently—and honestly, it makes perfect sense that these next breakout presenters came from our own team 👏💙

Huge shoutout to Nichole Kulow and Ben Mompier for leading an incredible breakout session on:

Mobile Therapy: Expanding Access & Breaking Barriers

Traditional office settings don’t always work for every individual, and Nichole and Ben are helping reshape what mental health support can look like by bringing therapy directly into homes, schools, workplaces, and community settings.

Their presentation highlighted how mobile therapy:
✔️ Increases access to care
✔️ Builds stronger engagement and trust
✔️ Creates more authentic, real-world connections with clients
✔️ Helps meet individuals where they are—both physically and emotionally

They also shared real-world examples and practical insight into navigating the ethical considerations, boundaries, and flexibility that come with providing therapy outside of traditional office spaces.

One of the biggest takeaways from this breakout was the reminder that innovation in mental health care doesn’t always mean making things more complicated—sometimes it means making services more accessible, more human, and more adaptable to the needs of the people we serve.

We are incredibly proud of Nichole and Ben for the work they continue doing and for their willingness to think outside the box to better support individuals in our community. 🙌

We want to give one more huge THANK YOU to Joanna Lohman for traveling all the way from Maryland to join us for the Leadership in Peer Support Summit 👏💙

Her keynote is STILL something we are talking about here in Wisconsin.

Joanna’s message around resilience, mindset, leadership, and overcoming challenges was exactly what so many people in the room needed to hear. Throughout her journey, she has faced obstacles, setbacks, and moments that could have easily caused her to stop—but instead, she continued pushing forward, growing, adapting, and leading.

That message resonated deeply with our team and attendees because it reflects something so many people experience in both life and leadership:
👉 challenges are unavoidable, but how we respond to them matters.

Joanna brought honesty, energy, perspective, and a level of authenticity that made a lasting impact on this conference. We are incredibly grateful she chose to spend time with our team and community.

Thank you again, Joanna, for reminding all of us to keep showing up, keep growing, and keep leading through the challenges. 🙌

Another huge thank you goes out to Shannon Ross, founder of The Community in Milwaukee, for leading such a powerful breakout session at the Leadership in Peer Support Summit 👏💙

Shannon’s session, From Lived Experience to Leadership: Turning Personal Journeys into Entrepreneurship and Community Impact, was an incredible reminder of how lived experience can become a catalyst not only for personal growth—but for meaningful community change.

Through honest conversation and powerful storytelling, Shannon shared his journey from incarceration to becoming a nationally recognized leader, author, advocate, and entrepreneur. His message centered around authenticity, accountability, healing, and using lived experience to create opportunities for others.

Attendees walked away with valuable insight into:
✔️ Transforming challenges into purpose-driven leadership
✔️ Building organizations rooted in authenticity and impact
✔️ Overcoming stigma and barriers
✔️ Using entrepreneurship and leadership to create change within communities
✔️ The importance of growth, accountability, and resilience

One of the most impactful parts of this session was the reminder that our experiences—both good and difficult—can shape not only who we become, but how we serve and lead others.

Thank you again, Shannon, for your honesty, wisdom, and willingness to share your story with our attendees. Your message left a lasting impact on so many people in the room. 🙌

Giving another shoutout to Home For Good of Eau Claire for presenting at the Leadership in Peer Support Summit 👏💙

Kelly Mahoney and Tiara Peterson led an incredibly meaningful breakout session on Supportive Housing: Building Foundations for Lasting Change, highlighting the importance of stable housing, peer mentorship, and individualized support in creating long-term success for the individuals we serve.

Their presentation introduced attendees to the Tenancy Support Peer Mentorship model and the impactful work being done through Home for Good’s University of Wisconsin-funded program expansion focused on social determinants of health and SMART goal development.

One of the most valuable parts of this breakout was the interactive approach—allowing attendees to practice motivational interviewing techniques and explore ways to effectively support individuals through peer-driven mentorship and goal setting.

The session reinforced something incredibly important:
👉 stable housing and supportive relationships can have a direct impact on overall health, wellness, and long-term outcomes.

Thank you again to Kelly, Tiara, and Home for Good for sharing your knowledge, experience, and passion for this work. We are grateful for organizations like yours that continue creating meaningful change in our communities. 🙌

We had P.O.P. founder Dennis Beale in the house for the Leadership in Peer Support Summit, and we were pumped to highlight the incredible work Power of Perception is doing right here in our community 👏💙

Dennis led the breakout session:

Changing Perceptions, Changing Lives: The Power of P.O.P. in Our Community

And that title truly reflected the message behind the presentation.

Power of Perception (P.O.P.) is doing meaningful work empowering African American and biracial youth throughout the Eau Claire area through mentorship, leadership development, education, and community connection. Their mission to create opportunities, build confidence, and support future leaders is something our community greatly benefits from.

During the session, Dennis shared:
✔️ The importance of mentorship and representation for youth
✔️ How community connection helps build confidence and leadership skills
✔️ The impact positive support systems can have on future outcomes
✔️ Lessons learned from building and growing a nonprofit organization focused on meaningful change

One of the biggest takeaways from this session was the reminder that creating lasting change starts with creating opportunities and support systems for young people to succeed.

Thank you again to Dennis Beale and Power of Perception for sharing your knowledge, passion, and the important work you continue doing in our community. 🙌

We also want to take a moment to give a HUGE shoutout to two leaders who contributed so much behind the scenes to help make the Leadership in Peer Support Summit successful 👏💙

Emily Bollinger and Isaac Hahn have both had to step up in a major way over the last year at C.C. We Adapt, and we want them to know that their hard work has absolutely not gone unnoticed.

From helping make this conference come together to keeping daily operations running as smoothly as possible, the amount of leadership, flexibility, problem-solving, and commitment they continue to show is something we are incredibly grateful for.

A lot of the work that keeps organizations moving forward happens quietly behind the scenes—and these two have been a huge part of that.

Thank you, Emily and Isaac, for your contributions, your leadership, and your willingness to continue showing up for the team and the individuals we serve every day.

We truly couldn’t do it without you. 🙌

We also want to give a huge thank you to Ventus Rex for presenting at the Leadership in Peer Support Summit and sharing more about their Peer Recovery Platform 💻🙌

At We Adapt, we personally use Ventus Rex software within our organization, and we truly have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with it.

As organizations continue growing and adapting, having systems that improve organization, communication, compliance, and workflow efficiency is incredibly important—and Ventus Rex has done a great job creating a platform that supports exactly that while still keeping services person-centered.

Their breakout session highlighted:
✔️ How technology can strengthen peer support and recovery services
✔️ Ways to streamline workflows and improve communication across teams
✔️ Program management and compliance tools
✔️ Using data and organization systems to improve outcomes and service delivery
✔️ How structured systems can help organizations grow sustainably

One thing we appreciated most about this presentation was the focus on using technology to SUPPORT the work—not replace the human connection that makes peer support so impactful.

Thank you again to Ventus Rex for sharing your knowledge and for continuing to create tools that help organizations like ours operate more effectively and efficiently. 👏

“Stop saying stupid stuff out loud.”

That was one of the messages from Joanna Lohman’s keynote presentation that REALLY stuck with us. 👀

And honestly… she’s right.

Mindset matters. The things we repeatedly tell ourselves matter. It’s already difficult enough when negative thoughts are running through our own heads—but when we constantly speak those thoughts out loud, we begin impacting the people around us too.

How often do we say:
❌ “I can’t do this.”
❌ “Nothing ever works out.”
❌ “I’m not good enough.”
❌ “This is going to fail.”

Not only does that shape our own mindset, but it also affects our teams, coworkers, families, and environments.

One of the biggest takeaways from the conference was the reminder that leadership starts with how we think, speak, and show up every day.

That doesn’t mean pretending challenges don’t exist. It means being intentional about the way we respond to them.

This message has stayed with our team since the conference, and we hope it sticks with you too. 💙

Another huge thank you goes out to Attorney David Carlson and Aziz Abdullah for leading such an insightful breakout session on Leveraging Technology in Peer Support, Businesses, and Organizations 💻🙌

Technology is changing the way organizations operate, and this session did an incredible job highlighting how businesses and peer support organizations can embrace innovation while still maintaining the human-centered approach that is at the heart of this work.

David and Aziz shared practical, real-world strategies on:
✔️ Streamlining workflows
✔️ Improving compliance and accountability
✔️ Enhancing communication and operational efficiency
✔️ Protecting sensitive information and strengthening security
✔️ Using technology to support sustainable growth

One of the biggest takeaways from this session was the importance of balancing innovation with integrity—making sure organizations continue prioritizing connection, accessibility, and quality care while adapting to an evolving world.

We are incredibly thankful for the knowledge, perspective, and practical tools they brought to this conversation. Sessions like this are so important as organizations continue navigating growth, compliance, and service delivery in today’s environment.

Thank you again, David and Aziz, for sharing your expertise with our attendees! 👏

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend—it is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many and to recognize the families, loved ones, and communities forever impacted by that sacrifice.

Because of their courage and selflessness, we have freedoms that should never be taken for granted.

From all of us at We Adapt, thank you to those who served and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
