Medical trauma doesn’t always end when the medical crisis is over.

For some clients, the aftermath of a health crisis can show up as PTSD, anxiety, depression, or grief, long after they’ve left the hospital.

Whether it follows a sudden emergency, a prolonged hospital stay, chronic illness, or years of feeling dismissed by providers, these experiences can shape how clients relate to their bodies, their health, and the healthcare system.

As clinicians, how can we better recognize and support the trauma that follows clients home?

Join Michelle Flaum and Sacha McBain for a FREE training, Medical Trauma: Clinical Tools After a Health Crisis, on November 23.

You’ll explore practical ways to take a more comprehensive health history, address the mind-body connection, and support clients in medical self-advocacy.

The training is valued at $249.99, and registration is FREE. A 3-day replay is also available.

Explore the free chapter, “What You Want When (If?) You Want Sex,” and see how it might support the clients you work with: https://bit.ly/3Ua2i4D

Clients rarely walk in and say, “I want to talk about sex.” More often, it comes up sideways: as stress, as distance in a relationship, or as a quiet sense that they’re broken because desire isn’t showing up the way it “should.”

What helps is a shift in the question. Instead of “Why don’t I want it more?”, clients can ask “What do I actually enjoy, and what gets in the way?” That shift can ease a lot of shame, and it gives you and your client something concrete to work with.

Emily Nagoski and Robyn Manning-Samuels built Come Together: The Workbook around that idea. Its exercises help individuals and couples understand their own desire, talk about it more openly, and adapt as bodies and relationships change.

We’re sharing a free chapter, “What You Want When (If?) You Want Sex,” for anyone who’d like to explore it with clients: https://bit.ly/3Ua2i4D

When clients bring charged emotions, differing beliefs, and uncertainty into sessions, therapists can feel caught between honoring the therapeutic relationship and navigating their own reactions.

So how do you hold space for complex conversations while keeping the focus on what matters most: your client’s care?

Join Kirsten Lind Seal for a FREE training, Navigating the Political Minefield in Psychotherapy, to explore the clinical process of working through these challenging moments with greater awareness and intention.

This training is valued at $169.99, but you can attend for FREE!

What if the client you’re calling “resistant” is actually a part of them trying to keep them safe?

When a client shuts down, pushes back, or struggles to engage in trauma work, it may be a protective part guarding them from pain.

Instead of pushing harder, what if we got curious?

Learning to befriend these protective parts can help clients feel less alone in their struggles and give therapists a new way forward when sessions feel stuck.

If you’re looking to bring together EMDR therapy, parts work, and somatics in your practice, this free, single-day training is for you!
