🤔Q: What part of your profession do you enjoy the most? (ie, language intervention, narratives, motor speech, fluency, semantics, phonology) and Why....?
💬A: It is hard to pick just one favorite thing. I love targeting speech sounds, language, and social skills. My absolute favorite thing is watching my students 👀becoming more confident communicators 🗣️ in their classrooms!👏

🤔Q: Do you have a fun experience🤗 to share about teletherapy? 💻
💬A: Some of the cutest moments are when my students promise they will work extra hard ✅so that I will show them one of my cats 🐈 at the end of the session!☺️

Was it a learning experience 💡 or a vacation 🏝️??? 🤔 … BOTH‼️ The International Conference on Multilingual Practice in Speech-Language Pathology was full of research AND practical tools …. yes, BOTH‼️ A big shout out to Ellen Kester, Ph.D., CCC-SLP and Scott Prath M.A., CCC-SLP for developing so many simple, real-world, user-friendly tools that truly make servicing our dual-language-learning students more ethical and effective for us who are doing this on a daily basis. Summer Marske and I can’t thank Bilinguistics Speech and Language Services and Therapy Abroad enough for all the knowledge and tools that Dr Kester and Mr Prath shared.
While learning, we were able to explore Costa Rica 🇨🇷 !! Costa Rica is so beautiful and sooooo adventurous 🗺️🚤 🪸🛘. The added bonus of this whole experience was making A LOT of new friends and connections in our field!

**Side Note** Kudos 🏆to our Ms Summer( Summer Marske) who, several times throughout her chatter with the locals in Costa Rica, received compliments on her Spanish‼️ They would say things like, “Wow, you said that just the way we do [meaning with the correct intonation]!” This happened several times. Summer has also been told that her Spanish doesn’t sound like “Midwest Spanish” 😉

💬A: I love all aspects of teaching more effective communication skills. I especially love articulation and phonology because I love to hear the results of students’ hard work! 🗣️👏

🤔Q: Do you have a fun experience🤗 to share about teletherapy? 💻
💬A: One of my students told me that I was her SECOND🥈 favorite speech therapist 😂! She said it was just because I wasn’t her first one she worked with. The same student also did a “fit check” with me one day and stood up to tell me all about the outfit she was wearing. She told me I had to do the same thing, so I did. ‍👗👚👖🥿

🤔Q: What part of your profession do you enjoy the most? (ie, language intervention, narratives, motor speech, fluency, semantics, phonology) and Why....?

💬A: I enjoy language intervention the most because it allows me to be creative ✨ and tailor sessions to each student’s interests. 📚 🧐 It’s fun to build 🧱activities around what they like and see them stay engaged while working on their communication skills. 🗣

🤔Q: Do you have a fun experience🤗 to share about teletherapy? 💻

💬A: A funny moment I’ve had during teletherapy was with a student who always loved playing hangman. 🧩 One day, instead of playing, he decided he was going to be the teacher 👨‍🏫and had me solve a math 🔢 ✖️➗🟰equation he made up. It completely caught me off guard and was such a fun moment. 😅

🤔Q: What part of your profession do you enjoy the most? (ie, language intervention, narratives, motor speech, fluency, semantics, phonology) and Why....?

💬A: One of the parts I enjoy most is language intervention. I find it fascinating 👏to see how differently each student processes information 🤔and expresses themselves. 🗣️ I feel like I really get to learn about their personalities, interests, and the unique ways they think during language activities. Of course, watching something click💡and seeing their confidence grow as they make progress toward a goal is always exciting to witness. 💖

🤔Q: Do you have a fun experience🤗 to share about teletherapy? 💻

💬A: One thing that always makes me laugh 😆during teletherapy is when students get excited to show me 🫵something through the screen. 💻 They usually hold the object extremely close to the camera, so all I can see is a small, blurry section of it while they eagerly wait for my response. 🧐

💬A: I enjoy working with students on language skills because it naturally leads to meaningful conversation 💬and helps them make connections to their everyday lives. 👥 I especially love 💖seeing them use those skills more confidently in real-world 🌎communication!

🤔Q: Do you have a fun experience🤗 to share about teletherapy? 💻

💬A: Since I have a few opportunities a year to complete site visits 🏫and meet students 👨‍🦱👱‍♀️ face-to-face, those visits are always memorable! One of the funniest parts is how surprised students can be when we finally meet in person. 👐 I’ve had students say things like, “Whoa, you’re way taller in person,” 🧍‍♀or act surprised 😲that I’m the same person they’ve been working with all year. 😂
