**UPDATED WITH CELEBRATION OF LIFE DETAILS**

IN LOVING MEMORY

"Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." - Rossiter Worthington Raymond.

Elmer Lee Gibson, 93 of Kuttawa, Kentucky, returned home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14th, 2025, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving wife & family.

Born on January 28th, 1932 in Henderson County, Kentucky, Elmer was the firstborn son of Frank Graham Gibson and Flora Pauline Gibson (Hunt). Elmer grew up during The Great Depression and lived a lot of life before he was an adult. He attributed his work ethic and charisma to his foundational memories and experiences during this time. At an early age, Elmer was run over by a car and broke his arm during a time that was very difficult to attain urgent and affordable healthcare. The healing process and rehabilitation was severe though he overcame the challenge, one of many examples of Elmer’s sheer willpower and fortitude. His father was incarcerated twice during Elmer’s childhood for moonshining which led to Elmer quickly gaining more responsibilities to care for his siblings and help his mother, Pauline. He greatly admired his mother and always spoke of her in high regard. During this time in his childhood, he gained a lot of life experience, growing into a hard-working and dependable young man. Later in life he loved to share stories of this time and bits of wisdom to anyone that would listen, especially his children, grandchildren, and those he mentored.

Elmer achieved a 9th grade education before leaving school to work with his father and brother at the family business, Gibson Automotive. He worked faithfully at the helm alongside his family for 36 years all while expanding into four NAPA Auto Parts stores, a radiator shop, a machine shop, and a leasing company before retirement in 1983. In the early 70’s Elmer started his journey with the Amway Corporation, rapidly growing his Group, becoming a truly renowned public speaker, making many lifelong friendships along the way. He furthered his legacy by working his way up to Diamond Status as an Amway Independent Business Owner, becoming the first Diamond in the state of Kentucky. Elmer had great success in anything he put his mind to. If you asked him, he would say his occupation was “people”. A gifted conversationalist, friends and strangers alike opened their hearts and minds to him everywhere he went. He was blessed with incredible intuition and his children joked that there was no point in trying to keep secrets from him.

Elmer was a Christian man of devout faith who loved his heavenly Father and firmly believed this moment is not “goodbye” but “see you later”. He grew his faith his entire life and shared his love of God freely with anyone who would listen. He was a member of Christ Tabernacle in Princeton Kentucky and a very active member of the church. He was a devoted husband and father, a hero to his wife and family, and a counselor to the lost. Always ready and willing to offer a guiding hand, he was a pillar of his community and wise beyond his years (and there were many years).

Elmer was an avid hunter and fisherman, a world class shotgunner, and a scratch golfer. He loved to hunt quail, ducks and geese, show off his impressive bird call, and watch his dogs work. He also knew his way around any kitchen and loved to cook and watch culinary shows. He affectionately referred to himself as “Elmeril” and made many spice blends and treats to share. Elmer was a legendary man with a larger-than-life presence and a witty sense of humor. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy. Undeniably positive, he faced every day with a great attitude and high expectations. A good week for Elmer would include time on the lake with a fishing pole and a buddy, fellowship with friends, taking food to members of the church, planning a hunting trip with his sons, cooking dinner for his family, watching a really good western, and lots of prayer.

Full of stories, wisdom, advice, and jokes, Elmer had a lot to say and if you heard him speak, you wanted to listen. He was truly gifted in the art of storytelling and had a memory like an elephant. All of his children and friends have fond memories of his tales, anecdotes, and speeches. If you spent much time around him, it’s likely you heard one of his many “Elmerism’s” such as “Be where you’re at” and “Don’t tell me what I can’t do”. Everyone has always said he needed to write a book or seven.

Elmer’s memory is carried on by his beloved wife of 34 years, Nancy Gibson (Roberson), and their 2 daughters, Pauline (Christopher) Gibson and Rebecca Gibson (Foster), 3 sons from his first wife Martha - David (Cathy) Gibson, Jeff (Robie) Gibson, and Greg Gibson (Nibby), his second wife, Jamie Bodiford, 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Preceding Elmer in death were his parents, Frank & Pauline, his first wife Martha Gibson (Seitz), His brother Walter Riley Gibson, sister-in-law Merrie Gibson, his sister Betty Sue Garrett (Gibson) and brother-in-law Jim Ed Garrett.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Gibson Residence. You may RSVP at this link- https://www.evite.com/event/01AAIIAE4SKDAA5ZUEPRLVH5PNJCII/?utm_campaign=send_sharable_link&utm_source=evitelink&utm_medium=sharable_invite

IN LOVING MEMORY

William Scott Saxon, known to many as Scotty, was born on July 4, 1970, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, and he passed away on April 23, 2026, at Baptist Health in Paducah.

He lived a life marked by kindness, steady purpose, and a spirit that encouraged others to keep going, keep believing, and keep showing up with heart. Scott’s journey on this earth was one of faith, family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple blessings that make life meaningful.

Scotty devoted much of his working life to serving others as an Electrical Lineman for Kentucky Utilities. He understood the value of showing up when the work was difficult, when the weather was harsh, and when the task required strength, patience, and commitment. He carried himself with the quiet confidence of a man who knew that honest labor matters and that doing your best is a form of character. His work reflected the same dependable nature that guided every part of his life.

Above all else, Scotty was a family man. He shared 28 years of marriage with his wife, Monica McLeod Saxon, and together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and enduring partnership. He was a proud father to Jasmine Matchen of Eddyville, Kentucky, Mason Saxon and his fiancée, Ashtin of Eddyville, and Ethan Saxon of Nashville, Tennessee. He was also a devoted grandfather to Ivy Grace Saxon, whose presence brought him joy and pride. Scott’s love extended to his sister, Jill Spencer and her husband Mike of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, as well as to his nephew, Jonah Allen, and his niece, Shelby Spencer. All of his family was a central part of his life, and he gave them the gift of his steady presence, his encouragement, and his kind heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl "Bill" Saxon and Phyllis Stinnett Saxon.

Scotty lived with a strong faith that shaped the way he saw the world and the way he treated people. He was a member of Covenant Community Church of Madisonville, where his belief in God was not just spoken, but lived out through his actions, his humility, and his compassion. He also shared his musical gifts as a bass player in the church band, adding his talent to worship and helping lift the hearts of others. His faith was not passive. It was active, resilient, and deeply woven into the man he was.

He was also a man who knew how to enjoy life and appreciate God’s creation. Scotty was an avid hunter who loved the outdoors, and he found peace in fishing, golf, and time spent outside. He invested time with younger men, teaching them to hunt, fish, and how to enjoy the great outdoors, while having fun. He was a craftsman at heart, someone who valued skill, patience, and the satisfaction of building and creating with his hands. He was a devoted UK basketball fan, and like so many things he loved, he followed the game with enthusiasm and loyalty. Whether he was in the woods, on the water, on the course, or in the company of family and friends, Scotty brought a genuine spirit that made others feel welcome.

Those who knew Scotty will remember him as kind, funny and the life of the party. Kindness was not something he reserved for special occasions. It was part of who he was. He had a way of making people feel seen, respected, and valued. He lived with a quiet strength that inspired others to be better, to love more deeply, and to hold fast to what matters most. His life reminds us that greatness is not always loud. Sometimes it is found in faithfulness, in generosity, in hard work, and in the way a person treats others every single day.

Scotty Saxon leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and steadfast devotion. His example calls us to live with purpose, to cherish our families, to honor our faith, and to move forward with courage. He will be remembered with gratitude, spoken of with love, and missed beyond measure.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Lakeland Funeral Home.

IN LOVING MEMORY

John Michael Henderson, Sr. “Mike,” 75, of Eddyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2026.

Mike was the youngest of four children born to the late Henry Willard Henderson and Anne Evelyn P’Poole Henderson. He was born on January 19, 1951, at Caldwell County War Memorial Hospital. His family still treasures his birth receipt, which showed he was delivered for the sum of $40.05, paid in cash - a story that always brought smiles and reflected simpler times.

Mike grew up on the Henderson family farm in Lyon County, in the area now known as Buena Vista Subdivision. Much of that family farmland is now inundated by Lake Barkley, making those memories of home even more special and treasured by those who knew the stories he loved to tell. He often shared memories from his childhood there, including how the family would keep chickens under the house and feed them through the floorboards. Those stories, told with Mike’s trademark humor and wit, were just part of what made him so unforgettable.

He graduated from Lyon County High School in 1969, where he was known to be a bit mischievous and full of spirit. Soon after graduation, he went to work for the railroad. Later, he returned home and married the love of his life, the late Brenda Marshall Henderson. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage and built a life rooted in love, family, faithfulness, and devotion.

Mike worked for the Laborers’ Union until the economy slowed in the early 1980s and many jobs were lost. He then began a career with the Kentucky Department of Corrections, where he faithfully served until retiring as a Sergeant. He was known as a hardworking man, dependable, steady, and deeply committed to providing for his family. He took pride in his work and in the life he built through perseverance and dedication.

In retirement, Mike found some of his greatest joy in helping care for his beloved grandchildren, Oli and Elizabeth Martin, who were truly the pride of his eye. He loved being present in their lives and cherished the time he spent with them. Family meant everything to Mike, and he treasured every moment with those he loved.

Mike will be remembered for his storytelling, his sense of humor, his mischievous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. He was a man of strong roots, shaped by the land where he was raised, the work of his hands, and the people he loved most. His life was a reflection of loyalty, resilience, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Tina Henderson Martin of Fredonia, Kentucky; his son, John Michael Henderson, Jr. of Eddyville, Kentucky; his cherished grandchildren, Oli and Elizabeth Martin; his sister-in-law, Marsha McCalister Henderson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
