Neighbors helping neighbors. Both service Directors were heading to a meeting together and diverted to respond to the incident. Both agencies worked quickly to triage and transport all injured patients.

🚨🚨Vehicle Collision at Hwy 23 & Valpro Rd
SALUDA COUNTY, SC

— On July 30, 2026,

Saluda County EMS🚑 and allied emergency agencies responded to a serious critical incident involving a collision between a bus and a recycling truck at the intersection of Highway 23 and Valpro Road.

Saluda County EMS successfully treated and transported 20 patients Edgefield County Emergency Medical Services treated and transported 1 from the scene to regional medical facilities for further evaluation and care.

Saluda County EMS extends its sincere gratitude to all initial responders, swift-acting bystanders (Ivy Peeples Silk), and our mutual-aid partners who assisted in the rapid response, triage, and transport effort:

• Newberry County EMS
• Lexington Medical Center
• Ridge Spring Fire Department
• All local responding fire, rescue, and law enforcement agencies

Our very own Dr. Warren and the VA EMS service held a ribbon cutting ceremony today. This is a new service that Dr. Warren and the VA have launched to provide EMS services to Veterans in the Augusta area. We cant thank Dr. Warren enough for his commitment to serving Edgefield County EMS and Veterans!!

Its going to be hot throughout the week! Stay hydrated and limit time outside. Also check on your neighbors it doesn’t take long to start experiencing signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion.

☀️ Edgefield County Weather Update – Increasing Heat This Week
The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant heat wave to build across our area this week and continue into the Independence Day weekend.
🌡️ What to Expect • Heat index values of 105–110°F are possible later this week. • Afternoon high temperatures will approach 100°F. • Heat Advisories are becoming increasingly likely. • Rain chances will decrease as the week progresses, allowing temperatures to continue climbing.
⚠️ Heat Safety Tips • Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty. • Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. • Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning. • Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. • Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
Edgefield County Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. Stay weather aware and take precautions to protect yourself and your family during this prolonged period of dangerous heat.

Congratulations to our very own Supervisor Carl Culpepper. He is being awarded by The American Legion Post 30 as the Public Safety Officer of the Year! He was also awarded at the state level and will be recognized in May.
