Thanks for coming to visit and thanks for letting me share my comic strip chronicles in the pursuit of a healthy life, body, and soul. I often like to visualize the events of my life in the form of a comic strip – a series of adventures, mishaps, bumbles & fumbles, mulligans, and lessons learned. I fall down and get back up… I fall down and get back up…again and again. The falling down part is ine
vitable, as you probably well-know. The getting back up part is grace-filled, because in reality it is God picking me back up. Sometimes it seems the best I can do is throw my hands up in the air and just laugh…at myself and at life’s circumstances, and let Him put things back into perspective. God’s patience towards my silly small self is nothing short of amazing and awe-spiring (or awe inspiring if you will), but perhaps He gets a few chuckles out of it too. In reflecting on one of the most difficult ongoing struggles in my life, living with Hashimoto’s, I had to ask myself (& God), “WHY?” Knowing that every trial and suffering God sends us has a purpose, I realized this was no different. While walking home from Bootcamp class one morning, my conversation with God went something like this: “Why am I sick? Why do I have to struggle with this debilitating disease? What do You want from me? What do You want me to do with this? What is the purpose?” The answer suddenly became clear, “To help others.”
Life is full of adventures, misadventures, lessons, relationships, sickness, health, pain, heartache, love, suffering, joy, laughter, and much more. At the same time it is overflowing with God’s limitless graces; we just need to gather up as many as we can, as often as we can, and share the love. My hope for this blog is that by sharing the comedy of errors that is my life, I can offer encouragement, support, and knowledge from what I’ve learned to help others with similar struggles and pursuits. So, is life about the stumbles or the getting back up? Or is it both? I’m still learning the answers and you can read more about that and…
