Known by her elder-given names MooKaam Ikwe (Ojibwe, “Morning Star Woman”), Shala Tia (Ancient African Diaspora, “Female Whale Birthed at Sunrise”), and Tezcatlixchotle (Náhuatl),
Christy Byrne is a healer, teacher, ceremonialist, and sacred space holder devoted to the restoration of balance, remembrance, and wholeness.
For more than two decades, Christy has walked the path of healing, drawing from both traditional wisdom teachings and contemporary therapeutic modalities. Her work is rooted in the understanding that healing is not something imposed upon another, but rather a sacred process of remembering one’s innate wisdom, reconnecting to ancestral strength, and returning to harmony with self, community, spirit, and the natural world.
Guided by reverence for traditional oral teachings passed from elder to student through generations, Christy approaches every session with humility, compassion, and deep respect for the unique journey each person carries. She holds a grounded and nurturing container where clients are invited to safely explore healing of the body, mind, emotions, spirit, and ancestral lineage.
Christy’s extensive training includes certification and advanced study in Acupressure, Vita Flex, Raindrop Technique, Reiki Master Teacher training, Cellular Healing, Somatic Healing Practices, energy medicine, facial rejuvenation and therapeutic facial modalities, spiritual mentoring, mediumship, divination, and integrative healing techniques. She also incorporates ancestral healing practices and teachings inspired by Toltec wisdom traditions, supporting individuals in releasing inherited patterns, reclaiming personal power, and cultivating authentic relationships with themselves and their ancestors.
Her work recognizes that trauma, grief, resilience, gifts, and wisdom often travel through family lineages. Through compassionate guidance, somatic awareness, energetic restoration, and ancestral healing practices, Christy assists clients in uncovering what is ready to be transformed while honoring the stories and experiences that shaped them.
Whether offering a restorative bodywork session, a transformative healing treatment, spiritual guidance, or ancestral healing work, Christy creates experiences that are deeply personal, intuitive, and empowering. Her clients often describe her presence as both grounding and expansive—a rare combination that allows them to feel seen, supported, and connected to something greater than themselves.
Today, Christy continues to serve individuals, families, and communities throughout the Midwest and beyond, carrying forward a lifelong commitment to healing, compassionate service, ancestral remembrance, and the honoring of sacred traditions. Through her work, she invites others to remember that healing is not a destination, but a return to the wisdom that has always lived within.
