🎈 **Milestone Monday Tip: Grab a Ball and Play!**

Did you know a simple ball can help support your child's development in so many ways? βš½πŸ’™

Playing with a ball isn't just funβ€”it helps build important skills through everyday play! Best of all, these activities can be enjoyed **inside or outside**, making it an easy way to learn wherever you are.

🟠 **Roll the ball** back and forth to encourage turn-taking and social interaction.

πŸ™Œ **Pick up and carry the ball** to build balance, coordination, and strength.

πŸ‘£ **Kick the ball** to practice balance and develop gross motor skills.

πŸ—£οΈ **Talk while you play!** Use simple words like:
"Roll!"
"Kick!"
"Ball!"
"My turn, your turn!"

πŸ’™ Every roll, kick, and giggle is a step toward learning.

**Have questions about your child's development?** Early support can make a big difference. If your child is under 3 years old and you have developmental concerns, Region One ECI is here to help.

πŸ’™πŸ’š June is Deaf Blind Awareness Month πŸ’™πŸ’š

At Region One ECI, we recognize the importance of early intervention for children who are deafblind or have combined vision and hearing challenges.

Our team works closely with families, school districts, and Vision Impairment (VI) and Auditory Impairment (AI) specialists to coordinate services that support each child's unique developmental needs. By collaborating early, we help children build communication skills, strengthen relationships, and participate in everyday activities at home and in their communities.

πŸ“š Check out these great resources shared by Alyssa Aguilar, Vision Impairment Specialist Region One Education Service Center, to learn more about supporting your child's vision.

Early intervention can make a big difference! If you have concerns about your child's vision or hearing, **Region One ECI is here to help.**

πŸ§ πŸ’™ Did you know?

A baby's brain grows faster during the first three years of life than at any other time. In fact, by age 3, a child's brain reaches about **80% of its adult size**, making these early years a critical period for learning, relationships, and development (Harvard University Center on the Developing Child).

If there are concerns about a child's development, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services can help. Referrals can be made by parents, daycare teachers, healthcare providers, family members, or other community members who recognize a child may benefit from additional support.

At Region One ECI, our goal is to provide services such as **speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, specialized skills training, and behavior intervention services** to help children reach their full potential during these important early years.

Don't waitβ€”early intervention can make a lasting difference!

πŸ–οΈ Child Find ECI was honored to participate in the Cameron County Public Health WIC Aloha Dad Event! πŸ–οΈ

Gabriel and Dee Dee enjoyed connecting with families and sharing information about Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services.

This event was designed to bring fathers and their children together for a meaningful day focused on connection, education, and family wellness.

We appreciate WIC Cameron County for inviting us to be part of this special event and for their continued commitment to supporting children and families in our community.

Thank you for having usβ€”we look forward to future opportunities to work together! πŸ’™

β˜€οΈπŸš— BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT πŸš—β˜€οΈ

As temperatures rise across the Rio Grande Valley, it's important to take extra precautions to keep children and families safe.

🌑️ HEAT SAFETY TIPS
πŸ’§ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
🏠 Stay indoors or in shaded areas during peak heat hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m.).
🧒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen when outdoors.
πŸ‘΅ Check on older adults, neighbors, and loved ones who may be vulnerable to heat-related illness.
🐾 Make sure pets have access to shade and fresh water.

πŸš— CAR SAFETY SAVES LIVES
❗ Never leave a child alone in a vehicleβ€”not even for a minute.
❗ A car's temperature can rise dangerously fast, even with the windows cracked.
❗ Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle.
❗ Place a purse, phone, employee badge, or other essential item in the back seat as a reminder.
❗ Keep vehicles locked when parked and store keys out of children's reach.

Together, we can help keep our children safe, healthy, and protected this summer.
