Have you ever decided you weren’t going to fit in before you even walked into the room?

I think about how much this applies to connection.

When we tell ourselves, “People always disappoint me,” “Nobody wants to be friends at this age,” or “I’m just awkward,” those beliefs can start making our decisions for us.

We hang back. We don’t send the text. We assume the invitation was just someone being polite. And we miss opportunities that might have become something beautiful.

Of course, believing in connection doesn’t make every person a good fit or every relationship work. Relationships take two people.

But what if we walked into the room thinking, “There could be someone here I’d love to know”?

What if we traded “Nobody reaches out” for “I can take the first step”?

You don’t have to believe everyone will choose you. Just leave room for the possibility that meaningful connection is still available to you. 🤍
