The four books I think people should start with if they are going to read Carl Jung’s Work.
The Undiscovered Self: This is where I started and it made me want to be a therapist rather than a researcher for lots of reasons, but especially his discussion on treating everyone like an exception on their own unique journey.
Memories, Dreams, and Reflections: This is his autobiography. Some argue (even Sanu Shamdasani) it is more about the myth of the man, but I think it gives you a snapshot of what he felt like was important about his life and the trajectory of his work.
Man and His Symbols: I just love this book. You get introduced to some of the other important Jungian’s from his time, so you have different voices talking about his theories, which I think is helpful when reading such rich and dense ideas as his.
Modern Man in Search of a Soul: Great introduction to what some would say are the more clinical pieces behind the theory.
